End Of The Month

Wow, a frenzied month for me at work...I had four days off at the beginning which gave me a four-day lag on everyone else, production-wise. But yet I turned in a performance which got me back into the bonus winners’ category for the second month in a row!
So if you were wondering where I was at for the last half of November, now you know.

Priceless Stories

Seeing as this is not a normal blogging day for me, I’ll put all these under a single headline. They really ARE all priceless....

WHY SHOULD I BE SORRY? I’m not...and neither are many others. I’m on Page 14, you can go and see for yourself! [Ed. Note: The link is broken; the domain no longer exists.]
WAIT TILL FEBRUARY 9TH: That’s when the Ronald Reagan stamp will be released. You can bet I’ll be down to the Post Office real quick so I can get some! I can only hope that the Postal Service won’t be raising rates any time soon.
EGG ON GOLLUM’S FACE: Apparently, James Carville smashed one on his forehead on Meet The Press yesterday for predicting John Kerry’s victory with 52% of the vote. Serves him right!
He also apparently decided to make a joke about outgoing New Jersey Governor James McGreevey’s sexual orientation, shocking Tim Russert in the process. Is it any wonder then why the Democrats lost this election? And they call themselves the “Party of Inclusion”...what a bunch of hypocrites!
One would hope that for this transgression, Mary Matalin (his wife) will have withheld her wifely duties from him for a short period of time to teach him a lesson.

Open Your Eyes

Those who still deny that Islamofascism is the enemy need only take a look at what Jihad Watch has done with the World66 Travel Guide...they’ve applied it to countries with verified activity of jihadism.

For Love…For Peace

Earlier this week, a mystery sub was spotted in Japanese waters. Supposedly, the sub was Chinese and Japan isn’t too happy about that. But I couldn’t help but harken back to this recruitment ad for the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force which reminds me of the Village People’s “In The Navy” from the late 70s.

On The Eleventh Hour…

...of the Eleventh Day of the Eleventh Month, it is time to remember the heroic sacrifices our Veterans made throughout history and today. Senator Zell Miller couldn’t have put it better:

“Never in the history of the world has any soldier sacrificed more for the freedom and liberty of total strangers than the American soldier. And our soldiers don’t just give freedom abroad, they preserve it for us here at home.
“For it has been said so truthfully that it is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press.
“It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
“It is the soldier, not the agitator, who has given us the freedom to protest.
“It is the soldier who salutes the flag, serves beneath the flag, whose coffin is draped by the flag, who gives that protester the freedom to abuse and burn that flag.”

AMEN. And THANK YOU!

Go Get Firefox!

I downloaded Mozilla’s Firefox 1.0 open-source browser last night and installed it on my computer...AND I LIKE IT! Here’s a screenshot. Click on it for a full-size view. So far, it’s a lot smaller than Netscape. Try half the size. But then again Netscape has all kinds of stuff jammed into it too. There are quite a few elements in Firefox that also show up in Apple’s Safari browser (which I also use), and that’s because one of the guys who worked on the initial development of Firefox went to work for Apple. USA Today has a story on the initial surge for an alternate browser.
If you want to improve your web browsing experience and you can’t stand how Internet Exploder has become shot full of security holes, or if you don’t like how bloated Netscape is...then go for Firefox! You won’t regret it!

Chief Justice…Clarence Thomas???

Filed under: | SCOTUS and The Law

Yep, Matt Drudge is reporting that President Bush is seriously considering elevating Associate Justice Clarence Thomas to Chief Justice, should William Rehnquist retire due to health reasons, which is a very REAL possibility because of his recent treatment for thyroid cancer and he’s kinda shaky right now.
Even though Thomas has been on the Supreme Court since 1991, if this event were to occur, he would have to be formally nominated for the position of Chief Justice and go through the confirmation process all over again. One big difference this time: the Democrats can’t bring out the big guns of Anita Hill and all the liberals and NAACP members who still think Justice Thomas is an Uncle Tom. Oh they’ll try, but they will get shot down, as he would be nominated for his record since he became a SCOTUS member thirteen years ago. That, and the GOP has 55 votes in the Senate come January 3, 2005, so the only hurdle will be getting out of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which will be another post altogether (stay tuned).
Remember, this isn’t a final thing just yet. Let’s wait and see how Rehnquist fares.

Have a Blast Down Under, Mate!

Australia kicks a** once again! The US Military and the Australian Defence Ministry are teaming up to build a new weapons testing range in Australia. Seems like the local residents in Puerto Rico got fed up with the Navy training there. We know who to reward for being on our side!

Crazy Toons

A few years ago when I was still living in the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti, MI area I stumbled (with help from the saurusmeister) upon a WEIRDDD online cartoon called ”Badger Badger Badger.” Now the guy which created that sensation has a bunch of others, and the three I’ve seen so far are ”Choccy," ”Breadfish," and ”Kenya." Be prepared.
