Last week while I was doing a little research on finding out why al Qaeda is so interested in reclaiming Spain (known during the Crusades as Andalusia) for the Muslims, I found this map. An interesting observation: doesn’t the name of the city shown at the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula (near where Gibraltar would be) sound a little bit like Al-Jazeera? Hmmmm....

Back in late February I talked about a low-tech hack for the just-completed Pepsi iTunes Promotion. I only did it on the first couple of bottles I purchased, and lo & behold it worked!
After that, I bought 2 more winners where I didn’t use the hack, followed by 2 donations from some AKPsi Fraternity Brothers at Arizona State, and 2 donations from coworkers. All told I got 8 tunes out of the promotion, so I’m pleased. Now when does the next promo start?

Now we have the more conservative senior senator from Taxachussetts spewing nothing but BS once again. Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA) compares President Bush to Richard Nixon in a speech at the Brookings Institution:

On the other hand, President Bush makes it real simple and easy for the voter to understand:

One item which the American people have absolutely refused to put up with is the politicization of national security. It’s sad the Democrats have chosen this route. There will be no need to discuss Medicare, No Child Left Behind, and Taxes IF WE ARE ALL DEAD at the hands of the terrorist bastards!

House Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has strongly encouraged John F’in Kerry to start his search for a Vice Presidential running mate ASAP. and wants him to finish this search by MAY DAY. How apropos coming from the DFC who represents San Francisco!

This, BTW, is a standard per-participant fee for ANY organized events in their city.

Talk about a greedy opportunist. While Mariane Pearl had to go through hell when her husband Daniel got murdered in Pakistan shortly after 9/11, what she’s done lately has the potential of pissing off a lot of people, including me. Let’s look at excerpts from CNN’s article:

Mariane Pearl has formally appealed her case and hopes Congress will eventually pass a law to aid families of any victim targeted by al Qaeda.

Yes, what a wonderful idea...create yet another taxpayer funded entitlement scheme to compensate MORE victims! That’ll fall like a lead balloon!

Daniel Pearl, the Wall Street Journal’s South Asia bureau chief, was abducted January 23, 2002, in Karachi, Pakistan, while working on an article about Islamic militants.
For nearly a month, investigators searched for Pearl, but a gruesome videotape of his death arrived on February 21, 2002 at the U.S. Consulate in Karachi.

Um...don’t these dates fall BEYOND September 11, 2001? Last time I checked a calendar they do!

This afternoon I visited another monument which was just dedicated last month in Paradise Valley: the Barry Goldwater Memorial. He was the last Presidential candidate born (on January 1, 1909) in a United States Territory: Arizona didn’t become a state until 1912.
Most of you likely remember this signature phrase from the 1964 Presidential campaign as the Republican Party nominee:

“Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice! And moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue!”

How true it is today in this War on Terror.
Goldwater was also an accomplished photographer, pilot, rafter, and amateur radio operator during his 89-year lifetime. He was an American FIRST and a Republican SECOND. That’s the order it should be.
Too bad I never got a chance to meet you Barry, but thanks for contributing what you did to our country...and to me too!
