A Prolific Month

June 2005 has proven to be a watershed event for providing content to my readers. I’ve done a lot more blogging this month than in any other particular month. However, it has not come without some controversy.
I would like to caution you all to please, please, PLEASE remain on or NEAR topic. I would much rather see some serious debate rather than hormone-filled banter.
Also, for those of you registering your e-mail address on the membership rolls, please ensure that your spam blocks on your respective ISP’s ALLOW anything from me. I cannot insure your approval as a member unless you can do this on your end.

Santo Subito?

The Roman Catholic Church isn’t wasting any time. Heeding the calls of the faithful during the mourning celebration for his predecessor John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI waived the traditional five-year waiting period and now, the Church begins the process through which JPII may actually become a Saint in the Roman Catholic faith.
I’ve said many times in other posts (here and here) that JPII was essentially a good Christian man who led his flock during the tremendous upheavals of the Cold War in the late 20th Century, and I still hold that belief about the man. But being a Lutheran, I can’t say whether he should be made a Saint. That’s up to the Roman Catholic Church to decide.

iPod First Impressions

Yesterday morning, as I literally was leaving my apartment to go to work, up comes the UPS driver with a package for me! I knew what it was, so I quickly put it back into my apartment, and waited with baited breath and worked, and then came home and played with it…after I spent some cuddle time with my lady friend of course! Heheheheheheheh….
At least it cannot be said that The Macker does not know where his priorities lie!
Normally, those of you who either read this blog on a regular basis, or those who know me personally, are aware that I am not the type of guy who uses words out of the mainstream to express my pleasure at whatever. However, in this case I must make an exception.

HOLY SHIT! What a BITCHIN’ KICK-ASS device!
I am going to have a ton of fun with this here iPod Mini learning how it works! Only one thing though: the standard-issue earphones don’t work too well for me, as one, or the other, or both fall out of my ears every few minutes, especially when I’m lying down.
So if anyone has any suggestions (Hey HUD! I’m all ears) as to purchasing an alternate set of earphones for the iPod, I’m welcome to them, because I’m gonna have this little thing around for a long, long time!

A Dish Best Served Cold

Filed under: | War on Terror

HA HA HA!
Imagine yourself at a Memorial Day celebration at an airfield. Now imagine yourself being forced to go through a gauntlet of anti-war protesters, giving you pamphlets and flyers about the BS about Bush=Hitler and “It’s all for Oil” blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda.
Now, imagine the next group you encounter on the way to the celebration offering you the chance to shred those nasty pamphlets for FREE! Finally, imagine the indignation the anti-war group experiences when they can’t do anything about all the shredding which ensues!

SCOTUS Sucks HUGELY

Filed under: | SCOTUS and The Law

If this decision, issued this morning, isn’t a sure sign that our judiciary system is completely out of control…then I don’t know what is!
Thanks to Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, she provides the swing vote in this insane decision. Thanks a hell of a lot…now just go off and retire will you?

And THEN SCOTUS affirms a separate opinion involving the Ten Commandments and the State of Texas…which goes the other way! I swear, SCOTUS is simply wimping out…the same Justices have been on the bench for 10 years now. As I said to Justice O’Connor.

Error in Chinese Slogan

Looks like the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee (or to be exact, the BOCOG) has chosen its final slogan for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games:

“One World, One Dream.”

A small error in their slogan…what it really means is: “One World, One NIGHTMARE.” The world seems to forget we’re dealing with DFC‘s who are running the show in China.

Abortion Clinic for Wally World

Filed under: | SCOTUS and The Law

I LOVE IT! A reader writes to Jonah Goldberg over at the National Review:

The quickest way to reverse Kelo is to find some conservative town in Utah somewhere to shut down an abortion clinic in order to make room for a Wal-Mart. Also, that would be the most fun way to get Kelo reversed.

Tell ya what…I’ll see your generic Abortion Clinic and raise it to a Planned Parenthood! If that’s not Texas Hold ‘Em Poker, then what is? We all know SCOTUS made a crappy decision about property rights in Kelo v. New London, and this would surely be the way to fight Fire with FIRE!

9 to 11 Weeks!

Dammit, I am NOT a Happy Camper! WTF!
I just got a postcard from my workplace “Rewards” Program, and these guys are telling me it will take 9 TO 11 WEEKS for me to get my damn iPod Mini. Oh I still want it! But I’m going to go through the Official Channels and the UNofficial channels to find out why it will take so long. Apple can’t be that far behind on orders, can they?

UPDATE: 27 June 2005; 2300 MST: Guess what? IT came today! YAY!

An Interesting Poster

Filed under: | War on Terror

This is definitely a different take on promoting the War on Terror…it almost makes me want to sing the lyrics to America, F**k Yeah!:

Buy This Book

Filed under: | War on Terror

...and help Saddam Hussein’s legal defense fund! This one is called “Get Out, Damned One” and I won’t waste bandwidth describing what it’s all about.
Saddam has also written three other books, not published under his name: “Zabibah and the King,” “The Fortified Citadel” and “Men and a City.” But “Get Out, Damned One” will be published with his name on the cover. Get ‘em while they’re hot ‘cause they, and he, will be gone soon!
Just remember…in a parallel universe, Saddam indeed could have been a successful prize-winning author!

How I’m Doing Today

LOW BLOGGING ALERT!

In a word: frantic!
I just spent an hour and a half literally scrambling around the apartment, putting things up and stashing them so I can deal with them in 12 days!
So if you guys don’t hear from me from now till July 3rd, you’ll know what I’m up to!

Obstruction Once Again

As I expected them to, the Senate Democrats once again kept John Bolton from becoming UN Ambassador. The vote was 54-38 in favor of Mr. Bolton, with 8 Senators not voting. Voinovich of OH voted against Bolton (which doesn’t surprise me in the least), and Thune of SD did not vote probably because he was embarrassed to after his snide comment about saving military bases in his state and withholding an affirmative vote in exchange for said bases. You’d think that Coleman of MN would vote for Bolton, but for some reason he didn’t.
Once again the Democrats use the filibuster rule for something it was NEVER intended for. I have no problems in seeing a filibuster used to legislation, but NOT for judicial and ambassadorial nominees!
I think it’s high time the President uses a power granted to him by the Constitution. The Senate goes in recess from July 4 through July 8, and the President should make a Recess Appointment of Mr. Bolton to UN Ambassador, that way he can get in there and kick some serious ass!
And while they’re at it, if Chief Justice William Rehnquist and perhaps Justice Sandra Day O’Connor are up to it, let them retire NOW, so President Bush can make recess appointments to fill the bench! And also all the other Federal Appellate nominees too! The country needs to see for real how serious the President is when he makes these Recess Appointments, and how obstructionist the Donks have been, are, and will continue to be, Amen.

A Piece of The Action

Filed under: | War on Terror

Seeing as the liberals want President Bush’s hide for many reasons, apparently someone got the ‘hide’ of one of his allies…and made some money off it...$18,000 to be exact!
Remember folks…Soylent Green is made from people!

It’s Been on TV This Long?

I guess it has. Just goes to show two things: 1) how much TV I watch these days, and 2) the depravity of it all!

Macker Finally Gets an iPod!

I spent nearly all my accumulated “Spirit Reward Points” at work (5594 to be exact!), but it’ll be worth it! I got a Silver 4GB iPod Mini model, and I should have it in about a week and a half.
Of course it’s not as exciting as the company that’s coming here in less than 48 hours! Heheheheheheheh….
