Mystery Date?

Filed under: | Axis of Donks

Madeline Albright says she’s ready to date again after being divorced for 20 years. The only caveat? In her own words, “I can’t go out with a Republican.”
This is probably why there are more Democrats than Republicans.

Cold War Thinking

All these fires out in California…homes are getting destroyed, some people are dying…the cost is mounting quickly, and the U.S. Government still has a Cold War mentality when it comes to solutions being offered to them on a silver platter.
EXAMPLE: Russia uses the Ilyushin IL-76 cargo aircraft as a “water bomber” for fighting forest fires. Its water capacity is four times that of the largest aircraft used for firefighting in the U.S., the Lockheed C-130. It can dump so much water onto a trouble spot, the need for fire-retardant chemicals is greatly reduced if not eliminated outright. Their forest area is a heck of a lot larger than ours is, that’s for sure.
Every time the Russians have offered the IL-76 to us for forest fires, we’ve said “thanks, but no thanks.” OK, maybe we don’t want to use their aircraft, but the sheer size of the IL-76 should, at the very least, get the guys over at Boeing working on converting the C-17 to a firefighting role.
Russia is no longer our enemy. We have to quit treating them as such when they want to offer us up some ideas on fighting forest fires. One thing’s for sure, they don’t mess around. Neither should we. CUT THE BS!

Grenada: Twenty Years Later

Filed under: | War on Terror

Back in 1981, President Ronald Reagan spoke the following words at Notre Dame (BTW, I am not a Fan of the Fighting Irish but that’s another matter….)

“The West will not contain Communism, it will transcend Communism. We will not bother to denounce it; we’ll dismiss it as a sad, bizarre chapter in human history whose last pages are even now being written.”

Profound words indeed which led to the ultimate demise of Communism in just ten years. The first battle fought under the Reagan Doctrine was in Grenada…launched 20 years ago on October 24, 1983. Lawrence Reed goes into great detail about the significance of the Grenada invasion at NRO.
Now substitute the word terrorism for Communism, and it still plays well in this war we’re fighting now. As all you readers already know, Iraq is the central battle front right now and will continue to be for some time.
Don’t let those naysayers gripe, whine, bitch, moan, nickel and dime you about all our young American soldiers being killed, one here, two there. They don’t want you to know that the casualty rate in Iraq is a lot lower than it was in, say, Vietnam…where we lost something on the order of 30 soldiers A DAY. Korea? About 50. World War II? Try 200! We know what the price is. We know that’s what it costs to be free.
Yes, it’s time to stop denouncing terrorism and start transcending them to DEATH. After all that’s what those Islamofascist bastards want, so why not oblige them?
Oh wait a minute…we’re doing that already!

Yanks Lose

Series is over. Marlins win in 6. Just think, the prediction from SeaQuest:DSV (2010 World Series Champion) was wiped out already back in ‘97, and now they’ve won two titles. Just don’t gut the team like you did back then OK?

Do We Bomb North Korea?

Filed under: | Axis of Evil

LOW BLOGGING ALERT. Yeah, my classes are gettin’ to me. That’s why there’s a nine-day space here. Sorry folks.
Anyway, here’s something I need to comment about. Those guys in North Korea. I’ve been to other blogs and commented about Kim Jong Il’s maddening behavior and what it might lead up to.
Steven Den Beste believes that it would not be in our best interests to nuke North Korea without sufficient provocation. I agree. We must do everything in our power, short of military action, to prevent the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (what a misnomer!) from actually deploying nuclear weapons. Slim chance, but it still exists. But we cannot tolerate the existence of rogue states in possession of such devices. There was a reason why we went into Iraq: Saddam had the motive to acquire them.
Now what if they actually test? Do you think the Chinese will actually wake the hell up with a little p*ss-ant country sitting on their doorstep and pretend to ignore it while North Korea points nukes at Beijing, Seoul, Tokyo, Vladivostok, and for good measure, Hiroshima and Nagasaki AGAIN!?
HELL NO! Nuclear weapons are not toys, and are not “just another weapon of war” as Ike once coined. They are the most dangerous weapons we’ve ever created! There is a common thread among those nations who currently possess them, even Pakistan, India, and Israel: they are civilized nations who participate in the intenational community. North Korea is not. Iraq under Saddam was not. Iran is not. Terrorists sure as hell are not.
So, if Kim Jong Il wants to play with us and the rest of the world, he has to give them up. Period. But he won’t, so eventually we’ll have to blockade NK and deprive him of the means to ship them outside the country and better yet, to manufacture them.
And if he’s stupid enough to fire one at us, or any of our allies, even China and Russia…THEN AND ONLY THEN should we vaporize his sorry ass off the face of the earth, and not before.

Fox Hard Up For Competition?

This might be a few days old, but so what. I’m quite amused that Fox News would put up this billboard advocating Connie Chung’s return to CNN. More amused that the Atlanta Urinal-Constipation Journal-Constitution would post the story….

The Cubs Are CURSED!

These guys were ahead of the Florida Marlins 3 games to 1 and they STILL couldn’t bring the World Series home. The Curse of the Billy Goat is still around…and the guy who caused it to continue can probably NEVER live a normal life again…even though he’s been absolved by Moises Alou.
It sucks, but Life Goes On.

Go Taikonauts!

LOOK OUT! Here comes CHINA...they’ve set the launch date of Shenzhou V sometime between October 15 and 17, and the mission would complete 14 orbits of the Earth.
Never mind that Bill Clinton handed the Chinese a good deal of the technology necessary to make their launch vehicles reliable enough to let them do this.
Actually, I hope China pulls this off and joins the list of true spacefaring nations (those who have launched men and women into space on their own without hitching a ride). NASA and the United States needs a kick in the ass. We’ve become way too complacent in the space arena and if China, ESA and the Russians keep going, we’ll be left in the (moon) dust before too long.

Open Mouth, Insert Foot

Filed under: | War on Terror

Colin Powell is understandably angry at CBN’s Pat Robertson over his comments regarding what to do with the State Department. Pat, you may be right about the way Foggy Bottom is handling the situation over in the Middle East, but advocating the use of a nuclear weapon against it is taking things just a little bit too far. So if you want to go ahead and make rabid comments like that, I won’t stop you….

Saudis Fear Iranian Nukes

Filed under: | Axis of Evil

Funny that the Saudis, the very nation that was scared to death of Saddam back in 1991…now has the same reaction toward Iran because the Ayatollahs press forward with a nuclear weapons program.
These guys will never learn…will the Shi’ite vs. Sunni conflict be resolved with clouds of mushroom rising over Mecca and Medina, or perhaps Riyadh? Hey wait a minute...I thought that was reserved for the Israelis!
