I…Do Not Understand

Lately I’ve been finding a lot of my friends, who are my age, are going through the death throes of their marriages, and they are turning to me (of all people) for advice.
They mostly ask, “What’s it like? Do you get over it?” I have to tell them that each individual will recover differently, and I also tell them that it took me a very long time for me to recover, because for many years I was bitter about the whole experience and I wrongfully imparted that bitterness on other relationships (both romantic and otherwise). It took me a long time…and the move to AZ…to begin to recover. Now I can tell people “Yes, this happened, it was fifteen years ago, I made mistakes along the way that I wish I hadn’t made. I still hurt from it, but please let me go on.”
One thing I haven’t told them yet is this (well, they’ll see it now!): they must forgive their spouses, NOW, before they go through their divorces if that is what they choose to do. They had their families, they made their mistakes, but they are still human beings and unless that spouse has done something truly despicable (what I mean by this is something far worse than adultery or “irreconcilable differences”), then they must not deny their spouses the ability to continue loving relationships with their children. This is what my ex did to me, and it has hurt me terribly.
And then, let the former spouse go on. And then after that, THEY themselves must go on.

Saddam’s Grandstanding VI

OMG! Shout it from the minarets and rooftops…Saddam’s found religion! Gee, do you think it’s because he knows he’s gonna DIE!

While other defendants appeared frightened and exhausted, Saddam swaggered confidently to his seat, greeting people along the way with the traditional Arabic greeting, “Peace be upon the people of peace” as he cradled a copy of the Quran.
Saddam began with a verse from the Muslim holy book that reminds believers who aspire for heaven that God knows who actually participated in jihad, or holy war.

Of course He does. Even the secular despots such as yourself can participate. You committed Holy War against your own people. And you will pay the price. So yukk it up, perform all you want to in the courthouse. The noose will be waiting for you.

New Elections for Canada, Eh

Some time around 1830 hours Eastern Time (1630 MST), a no-confidence motion is to be voted upon in the Canadian House of Commons, and if it goes as expected, it will bring down the minority government of Liberal Prime Minister Paul Martin, who will then turn to the Governor General to dissolve Parliament and call for elections early next year, eh.
Canadian voters will then face a campaign season which coincides with Christmas, and this will not sit well with them. The current polls suggest that the Conservative Party of Canada, led by Stephen Harper, may get the nod when the election takes place, but would have to form an coalition with another minority party to govern from Ottawa, most likely the separatist Bloc Québécois. Not a nice alliance, eh.
It seems to me that unless and until the Canadian voters get it in their minds that they have to get rid of the Liberals once and for all…they will be stuck with a succession of minority governments, eh.

48 Hours To Go

Or thereabouts. This is an update regarding my Thanksgiving experience.
I just got back from the dentist, he did a quick cursory exam of the tooth in question (Tooth #19, for those of you into dentistry) and sure enough, it’ll need the root canal.
How exciting. NOT. The procedure is to take place at 0700 hours MST on November 30, which gives me time to mentally prepare for it.
What I’m mentally preparing for is the actual shot, because everything is downhill from there. I, like millions of other Americans, have to deal with the stress of the dentist. So I’m not alone in that aspect. Thank God.

Gigolos or Day Laborers? You Decide

Not too long ago, the Minutemen demonstrated at this very location I went to this morning. They protested the regular hiring of the Illegals for day labor, which a lot of people do because they work cheap. I wished I could have been there to take pictures of that because it took place on a weekend, so when I heard about it I decided to take some pictures of the guys who line both sides of the entry drives to Wal-Mart, Home Depot, and Walgreen’s, all three of which are located on the southeast corner of 36th Street and Thomas Road.
Notice I didn’t call the Illegals hookers. UN-American Gigolos are the same thing. It’s stuff like this which are so symptomatic of our broken immigration system. We GOTTA fix this!

Anchor Babies, Begone!

One of the most controversial (that is, to the liberals) aspects of the United States Constitution presents itself in the 14th Amendment. Here’s Section 1:

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

I’m sure we’ve all heard the stories of the Illegals who sneak into the country, give birth five minutes later, and are at that point undeportable on account of the child which was just born inside United States territory. The way I read this Amendment (which, by the way, was introduced shortly after the Civil War to ensure the freedom of the recently emancipated slaves), the phrase in bold means that said people are here lawfully. This could mean a German couple with green cards, or UN diplomats from South Africa, are about to give birth. Perhaps one parent is American and the other is not, and their child is born here. Are those babies US citizens? You bet!
So what about those Anchor Babies? There is legislation afoot to deny automatic citizenship to these children born of Illegals. And rightfully so. I have always been an advocate of immigration to this country; if people want to come to live in the United States…then let them come here LEGALLY! Let them fill out the applications, go through the waiting period, and so on. And yes, I know that if it is passed by Congress, and the President signs it, the bill will be on a direct route to SCOTUS.
However, this is only a partial solution on our side of the border. Here’s the other part:

If the Mexican government doesn’t like this, that’s too damn bad. Faster, please.

No Big Loss

I’ll bet you’re wondering why I put this story under the War on Terror category. OK if you haven’t read anything else, sit down. You are? Good. My contempt for Michael Jackson has grown again by leaps and bounds. Now there is a report that he is converting to Islam!
Yep, you read right. Not the wannabees from the Nation of Islam. We’re talkin’ the Real Islam. I wonder which sect he will abide by? He will also have to learn how to make the hajj to Mecca without a traveling entourage of reporters (unless they, too, are Muslim). He’ll have to learn how to wipe his rear end with his left hand. No more pork, no more Jesus Juice. no more Thriller music, no more loans with interest.
And what will the millions of his fans around the world do…convert to Islam after him? That will surely be a fatal mistake if they do, because once a person converts to Islam, they can’t convert back…otherwise they’re targeted for DEATH!
Now, the US Government is probably keeping tabs on Jackson’s cash flow and where it’s going to. I hope the Feds find a good reason to put his name on the list to permanently bar him from entering this country ever again!

NO CROSS-EXAM FOR THIS WITNESS: One of the main witnesses against Saddam Hussein has passed away. Fortunately, he was not murdered, and his testimony was taped in both audio and video prior to his passing. And they say dead men tell no tales….

IRAQ TO JAPAN: PLEASE STAY: This, after Japan forgave the Iraqi Government $6.8 billion of debt incurred by Saddam. The Japanese forces stationed in Iraq are scheduled to leave on December 14.

DEVIL WITH A (BLUE?) DRESS ON: A Nigerian state governor attempts, and fails, to escape the long arm of the law by dressing as a woman. Photoshoppers at Nigeria’s newspapers subsequently go nuts!

One Sick SOB

We all know who Hitler blamed for Germany’s low standing in the world following Versailles: the Jews of course.
And Michael Jackson is doing the same thing...this doesn’t come as a surprise to me, since I’ve suspected his anti-Semitism for quite some time:

“They suck…they’re like leeches…I’m so tired of it. The Jews do it on purpose.”

Since he now lives in the Middle East…Bahrain, to be exact, he is now in like company. It’s too bad he didn’t take the rest of his family with him. And at the same time, I feel terrible for his children, who will no doubt be exposed to a more virulent form of what their father has probably preached to them all along…it’ll just be coming from the locals.
The contempt I hold for Michael Jackson is such that the title will suffice.

Since my family and most of my friends are back east, I was hoping I could go out of town for a quick photo jaunt in the mountains east of the Valley, but that ain’t gonna happen now. You see, I have this tooth that’s bothering me quite badly and I had to get up to call the dentist’s emergency number, and hope and pray I can get in today or tomorrow to get it fixed…and it’ll probably be another root canal! But at least I’m thankful this year for the ability to pay for it.
And before I forget…GO LIONS!

Back to the Future

I see that Charles Johnson, Roger L. Simon, et. al. have changed the name of their new venture back to “Pajamas Media.” Check out what they did to the logo. A quick and dirty fix to be sure! But I have a feeling this name change will be temporary while they sort out the legal matters.
This will, of course, not stop the el cubos from referring to the former entity as Open Sores Media.
So excuse me while I put on my nightwear to blog.

Xbox 360 Mania

Ah, I see the market is in full operation on this new toy. I’ve yet to hear a question posed to me: “Are you going to buy one?” Allow me to put this issue to rest.
In a word, no. I see no need to sit on my a** playing games when I get home at night or on weekends. You see, I have this other hobby that I would rather sit on my a** for during nights and weekends!
Remember, the difference between men and boys is the price of their toys!
