I stand with the People of Israel, when I say to you NEVER AGAIN.
SO SAY WE ALL.

President Bush has tapped FOX News’ Tony Snow to be the next White House Press Secretary. Can you hear Helen Thomas quaking in her boots? I sure can…and someone else too:
“...I think he can handle (NBC’s) David Gregory with that same great humor, but also be somebody who would really communicate to the American people in a good common sense way,” said Barbara Comstock, a former director of research and planning at the Republican National Committee.
One thing’s for sure…the el cubos are gonna be burning the midnight oil to figure out how to handle this guy. Good Luck Tony!
OPEN THREAD TIME! Here’s the question:
What was the WORST SONG you’ve ever heard, and why?
Have at it!
With fuel prices skyrocketing, it was only a matter of time before the airlines considered SRO accommodations for coach passengers….
Airbus has been quietly pitching the standing-room-only option to Asian carriers, though none have agreed to it yet. Passengers in the standing section would be propped against a padded backboard, held in place with a harness, according to experts who have seen a proposal.
So THAT is why the A380 can carry more than 800 passengers in an emergency evacuation configuration. And it just hit me: that configuration could be used for deportation flights for European Illegals!
Yes, the article goes on to describe how seats are being made lighter and “more efficiently.” No matter, that’s beside the point.
Today would have been my dad‘s 70th birthday. I miss him.
I still wonder sometimes what he would have thought of everything that is going on right now, both in my personal life and in the world at large. I think he would have been glad to see me finally on my own, away from the emotional bulls**t which I put up with for a long, long time (and all you long-time readers of Macker’s World know what emotional bulls**t I’m referring to). I would have chuckled to hear how Dad would have taken care of the Islamofascists we’ve been fighting…he would have utilized all his knowledge and skill in Sailor Talk to do so!
When Dad ran his appliance repair business, he did have computers to keep track of the inventory and I helped him with that. I believe he eventually would have turned away from The Dark Side, with my help.
Now, allow me to share with you a strange deja vu story. About three months after Dad passed away, I was driving to South Haven (where I grew up) from Kalamazoo (where I was living at the time), and my thoughts were filled seeing Mom again and checking up on how she was doing, and to even help Dad clean up the yard after the winter snows…I then immediately pulled over to the side of the road and said out loud, “Wait a minute. Dad’s not here.” I didn’t cry at that, but it kinda shook me up. I realized then and there that it was going to take a long time for even me to deal with Dad being gone.
And I did. So did my mom, my brother, and my sister. But there’s always going to a part in each of us that will always miss him. That’s part of life, and so long as we keep that spirit alive in our hearts, Dad will never die.
Happy Birthday Dad! I love you.
I discovered another Operation Hardtack photo with my dad in the middle of the front row. Click on my dad’s photo to see the inspection. Thank goodness for Photoshop. The original picture was turning sepia in tone, but Photoshop cleaned it right up.
