Well, today’s the day these much-vaunted devices are unleashed upon the world. Right now, the only plans you can get with the iPhone are through T&AT AT&T.
Will I be getting one of these? Not at $500 a pop…and that’s for the base model. Still, these things will jump, not fly, off the shelves.

I had a bad day today at work. Not the ciients, not the client managers, not the coworkers. Two friends who are splitting up. And I love both of them. Seeing this after 16 years together breaks my heart too, and I felt their pain all damn day.
See I didn’t figure this out till I got home tonight. I just wish I had someone close to me to come home to and talk about it. Sigh....

I find this ironic in a way that Warren Buffett, the third-richest man in the world, complains about the US tax system because he pays less in overall tax than his secretary and cleaner. He uses his tax attorneys to take advanatage of every loophole which currently exists in US Tax Law.
Perhaps he should look at it from a different angle: if he’s so adamant that he should pay more taxes, then why not simply write an additional check on April 15 every year, payable to the United States Treasury, for $X,XXX,XXX,XXX.XX (say, at least a billion dollars), and put in the memo line “For Reduction of the National Debt.” See? Problem solved, and he’ll feel better too after having redistributed his own wealth. Isn’t that what all his whining and moaning was all about?

Now here’s one historial attraction I didn’t get a chance to go to when I was a kid living in Italy:

This would have been such a cool sight to see, but oh well. Anyway, the Italian Government has managed to save this tower from collapsing some time between 2030 and 2040, and actually returned it to its 1838 position, giving it at least another 170 years of life (so to speak).
I found it interesting that Mussolini actually wanted to return the tower to its original vertical position from 1173. Good thing that didn’t occur; it would have lost its beauty and charm…something so lacking these days.

Just wait: you and your fellow RINO Senator, John McCain, is going to be target for defeat in your next election, as will any Senator who votes for final passage of this bill from the “upper” chamber, since you continue to fail to understand that the PEOPLE are calling on you to SECURE THE BORDER FIRST!

According to a poll conducted by Pocket Issue, a UK-based think tank, 71% of respondents believe the current global warming trend is not man-made, but rather part of the natural cycle. But of course, the surveyors surmise that people are too dumb to realize the real situation:

Emma Hardcastle, publisher at Pocket Issue which carried out the research, said: “If 71% of people feel that Man has nothing to do with the recent change in our climate then those same people are not going to buy into any movement to reduce their carbon footprint.
“We need to make it clear that there is nothing natural about the significant rise in both carbon emissions and global temperatures since the industrial revolution.”

Said surveyors still haven’t adequately explained the global warming occurring on Mars…and they never will.

...to a (medical) theater near you: the REAL Fantastic Voyage:

Israeli scientists have actually created the imaginary technology depicted by the 1966 science fiction movie Fantastic Voyage, in which a submarine is reduced to microscopic size, injected into the bloodstream and able to travel through the body to provide medical treatment.
A tiny “submarine” robot has been designed by Dr. Nir Schwalb of the Judea and Samaria College in Ariel and Oded Solomon of the mechanical engineering department of the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. They say it has the unique ability to “crawl” through tubes with the width of human veins and arteries, even going against the flow of blood at the speed in which it passes through blood vessels.

Chalk another one up for Israel and Western science! I just hope the first time it’s used, whoever the patient is doesn’t extract it via the tear ducts.

But how can it be contrived or an aberration when so many rioted over the Danish cartoons? Today, this same dynamic is creating a moment of great danger. The radicals are becoming reckless, asserting themselves for little reason beyond the conviction that they can. They are very likely to overreach. It is not hard to imagine scenarios in which a single match—say a terrible terror attack from Gaza—could ignite a chain reaction.
