They’ll Love Us For Sure

Filed under: | War on Terror

Ron Silver’s on to something here. Since nearly every other country in the world hates us for our meddlesome ways, he proposes a simple six-step program (as opposed to twelve, we can’t have Alcoholics Anonymous going here now can we!) so that the world will truly love us.
In fact, I think this proposal will be so revolutionary, the rest of the world (including our liberals here at home) will have a massive orgasm over it! There…how’s that for a prediction?

Redshirt for Halloween

Last year, I was an agent of the MiB. This year, our team is dressing up as crayons, and I’ll be red. Yes, I even have a red T-shirt ready to go, and when I get to work there will be a “crayon head” headgear waiting for me…more photographic evidence later!

The Bitter and The Sweet: Season 3 Soundtrack

When I got back to work today, this was waiting for me in my mailbox:

When I finally adopted this show as my own (so to speak), I knew from the get-go that this was not the Battlestar Galactica of my youth…it was much darker and people died (or got boxed, in the case of certain Cylons). Season 3 reflects the reality that we truly are responsible for our actions and have to live with the consequences, be they good or bad…as I’m finding out. Bear McCreary drives this point home again and again and again.
This music cleanses my soul. I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve thanked Bear, so I’ll thank him once again. I hope I can meet him someday.

Positive Feedback

Last night i had another very short anxiety attack. This one was brought on by an IM I had with an LGF Minion, and instead of it having to do with politics, it had to do with my son. Pretty much as soon as it was over, the positive feedback it generated fed right into the attack, and it lasted about five minutes.
At least I’m learning things; now I know what to look for. Now I have to learn to stop them cold in their tracks, because the situation with my son, like all the other things I stressed out on, is something I have no control over…in other words, I can’t make it turn out the way I’d like for it to turn out.

Those are THEIR Falls, Eh

Filed under: | Great White North

Uh oh. Looks like we made a boo-boo when filming a tourism video for the good old US of A…by including Horseshoe Falls as Niagara Falls. Bad move, eh.
Let’s straighten this out. Here’s Niagara Falls. This is what should have been filmed, eh:

And here’s Horseshoe Falls:

There is a difference, eh.

Who’s In The Minority Here?

Look at this photo and see if you can find a Windows-based laptop in this lecture hall.
Click on the thumbnail. Original post here. It originally was sent as two separate photos and I thought it appropriate to stitch them together.

London Calling

Today at 1300 hours Eastern time, the NFL will play its first overseas regular-season game at Wembley Stadium in London, as the Miami Dolphins “play host” to the New York Giants. This will not be a foreign thing to Londoners, as the city hosted the London/England Monarchs for a few years during the 1990s, before the NFL consolidated its World League operations to Europe proper, and became NFL Europa.
American Football in Europe, like soccer in the US, may never approach the popularity levels of the other on the other’s home turf. That said, at least the NFL isn’t going in with no experience. Watch for more regular-season games…and eventually, a Super Bowl...overseas.

Edwards’ New Deal

Filed under: | Axis of Donks

Yeah, RIGHT:

Edwards, a former Democratic senator from North Carolina, says the federal government should underwrite universal pre-kindergarten, create matching savings accounts for low-income people, mandate a minimum wage of $9.50 and provide a million new Section 8 housing vouchers for the poor. He also pledged to start a government-funded public higher education program called “College for Everyone.”

It won’t take a rocket scientist to figure out from whom these funds will come. Just like every other Democrat candidate so far.

Post-Op

Well, I had my angiogram done just about 48 hours ago and it’s time for a report.
The cardiologist found no significant blockage in my arteries which warranted a further procedure, so that’s good. I’m going to take that as though there may be some blockage which I’m already on meds for. It could mean I may have to adjust those meds. I’ll find out more in the next two to three weeks when I follow up with him again.
And we’ll also likely talk about a diet I could go on to help lose weight which is what I need and want to do. He said I was a lucky man and I don’t want to let anything else go. A lot of the stuff which I totally stressed out on three weeks ago has been rectified.
As far as soreness goes, it wasn’t too bad at all It isn’t now, but today I’ll take off the bandage and clean it up a bit, then I’ll feel civilized again
So, that is where things stand.

Joke of the Day

Filed under: | Axis of Donks

Courtesy of LGF minion NJDhockeyfan:

An old priest lay dying in the hospital. For years, he had faithfully served the people of the nation’s capital. He motioned for his nurse to come near. “Yes, Father?” said the nurse. “I would really like to see Senators Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton before I die,” whispered the priest. “I’ll see what I can do, Father” replied the nurse.
The nurse sent the request to the Senate and waited for a response. Soon the word arrived; Senators Kennedy and Clinton would be delighted to visit the priest. As they went to the hospital, Hilary commented to Teddy, “I don’t know why the old priest wants to see us, but it will certainly will help our images and might even get me elected President. After all, I’m IN IT TO WIN IT.” Kennedy agreed—it was a good thing.
When they arrived at the priest’s room, the priest took Ted’s hand in his right hand and Hilary’s hand in his left. There was silence and a look of serenity on the old priest’s face. Finally Senator Kennedy spoke. “Father, of all the people you could have chosen, why did you choose us to be with you as you near the end?” The old priest slowly replied, “I have always tried to pattern my life after our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
“Amen,” said Teddy. “Amen,” said Hillary.
The old priest continued…“He died between two lying thieves. I would like to do the same.”

Man, this is GOOD!

Tapping For Failure

A little bit less than 15 months to go in her tenure at Foggy Bottom, and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is already turning to two failed Democrat Presidents for advice on how to proceed with the situation in the Middle East. Bottom line, Madame Secretary: don’t look to these two for any advice, they’re already seen as failures, so why burden your posterity with that?
Here’s another little tidbit: the Arabs and Palestinians will never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity. They did it at Oslo, they did it at Camp David, and they will do it again at Annapolis. So why go with the Peanut Farmer and Bubba when you can go instead with the ‘Stached One...who knows the correct score!

So Much For Hard Work

Filed under: | Axis of Donks

Just a short ten months ago, the Democrats in Congress had promised to work every day of the week while in session…right after they took time off to visit the BCS bowl games. Look how much work they’ve done since then. NOT.
And now they’re going back to the schedule they’ve wanted all along: Fridays off except in June for appropriations legislation in progress. We’ll see, given their previous track record, how long that will last.

Saturday Night Video

Not a lot of you realize this, but I have been a Pink Floyd fan since I was 13. During college, when my colleagues would be getting drunk, high, or laid by this music…I would actually listen to this stone cold sober AND study to it! Perhaps that’s why, after my divorce, I managed to kick serious GPA a**!
At least David Gilmour, Nick Mason, and Richard Wright keep their poltical opinions to themselves as they play their music, while Roger Waters has opened his mouth to show where he stands. But I digress.
This week’s video is Pink Floyd’s performance of “Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun,” from the ancient ampitheatre in Pompeii.

No Alliance With Neo-Nazis. NONE!

Filed under: | History | War on Terror

Over the past week, there’s been a big brouhaha between various pro-USA blogs regarding criticism of an appearance of an alliance between anti-Islamofascist forces in Europe and neo-Nazi organizations also professing the same oppositions. Let’s take a look at the origin of the word “Nazi.”.
The MSM tends to paint neo-Nazi groups as “right wing.” Nothing can be further from the truth, because the word actually originates from the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (National Socialist German Workers Party). Like Communists and other totalitarian governments, the Nazis controlled all aspects of the society; the Nuremberg Laws come to mind, which specifically persecuted Jews. And of course they went after gays (more so) and lesbians (less so), Gypsies, the handicapped, etc., in order to form their “perfect society.”
Don’t believe for a second that these nationalist European groups with any ties to the Nazis, past or present, won’t reveal their true colors once the Islamofascist threat is taken care of. That’s why no right-thinking group who wants to stop the Islamization of Europe (and the rest of the world) should ally themselves with such organizations.

What. The. Frak!

Word has it that the beancounters at SciFi want to split the fourth filmed season of episodes in two: run half of them starting in April 2008 instead of January, and the second half in 2009. Also, RDM will get to direct an episode…as if he hasn’t been previously allowed to? Executive Producers usually have their hands full.
And before I forget, here’s the obligatory WARNING for SPOILERS!
Some of us Frakheads are patient, but in this case, I will rightfully criticize those same beancounters for being too cheap to allow RDM a full five seasons’ worth of episodes, not to mention stringing us along.
Oh I’ll still wait…I’m just sayin’....
