Saturday Night Video

Here’s another blast from the past: Harry Nilsson’s “Everybody’s Talkin’” in 1969 B&W broadcast quality. This song appeared as the theme title for “Midnight Cowboy”:

Spanish King to Chavez: Shut Up

Comrade Chavez opens his mouth at a summit of leaders from Latin America, Spain, and Portugal, denounces the former Spanish Prime Minister as a fascist (what else would you expect from this DFC!), and won’t shut up for the current office holder, who just happens to be a democratically-elected socialist…
...so King Juan Carlos turns to Chavez and says “Why don’t you SHUT UP?
YAY! And here’s another case of botched journalism. This report states that the King was seated next to Comrade Chavez (who, BTW, had Comrade Ortega backing him up, as was Cuba’s So I’ll bet this would have been one helluva summit to watch!). The video of the actual event clearly shows at least two, possibly three guys, between Chavez and the King.
No big deal though, because of who got shouted down. I’m just being nitpicky today.

The MSM At Work

Filed under: | War on Terror

Here’s a screenshot of what I ran across at the BBC this morning, doing my news rounds:

Nothing wrong with this, right? In one sense, there isn’t. But take a look at that last question, and don’t look at the British spelling either. People who have to click on that link are frakkin’ idiots who have had their heads in the sand (or where the sun doesn’t shine) for the last seven years!
Here’s an interesting passage:

The sanctions, and the denial of Afghanistan’s seat in the UN to the Taleban, increased the political and diplomatic isolation of their regime.
It also prompted it to pursue a more isolationist and fundamentalist agenda.
For example, the Taleban went ahead with the destruction of the priceless Bamiyan Buddha statues carved out of a mountain cliff in central Afghanistan, despite international outrage.

BULLS**T! The Taliban were Islamofascists from Day One! The UN didn’t make them do any of this. Is it any wonder why only three countries…Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and their next-door buddies in Pakistan…recognized their regime? Their actions were going to be done anyway and to Hell with the UN, who’s supposed to be real big in preserving cultural heritage.
Such is the bias of the BBC.

On This Day In History…

The Continental Marines were formed by the Continental Congress on this date in 1775, and their traditions and history carry through to today as the United States Marine Corps.
From the Halls of Montezuma to the Shores of Tripoli…Semper Fidelis. Happy Birthday Marines!
