They Better Figure Something Out Quick

Filed under: Axis of Donks |

You know something is terribly wrong with the Democratic Party when one of its elder statesmen, former Vice President Walter Mondale, sees the handwriting on the wall:

“If we have a system where we go through all these elections and you can’t elect or nominate anybody. Then you turn it over to the so-called ‘super-delegates’ who weren’t elected and you can see why people are not going to like that.”

A situation where the Superdelegates actually have to thwart the will of the people. Imagine that.
And just which party is the party of Elitists, again? It sure ain’t the GOP.

Olympic Flame Lit In Shame

Filed under: DFCs | Sports |

I’ll bet Jacques Rogge and the IOC are a bunch of unhappy campers right about now. The unelected, august body of sporting elitists got s**t thrown into their faces by none other than the group Reporters sans Frontieres, a group which actually contacted me a year and a half ago. They were protesting China’s crackdown on Tibet.
And they did it at the right moment too, when the DFCs were speaking, unveiling a large banner bearing...you guessed it...the Olympic Rings as handcuffs, and in a statement released by the group, they urged heads of state to boycott the opening ceremony. While that, in and of itself, is a noble goal, I doubt that with the money involved in organizing these games, that will be accomplished. But hey, it could still happen.

Car Hunting, Part II

On the way to the Hyundai dealer (more on that later)...I was amazed at the sight of this vehicle, a Ford GT, driving with the flow of traffic instead of going lickety-split! So I asked The Official Roommate to quick take a pic with his iPhone, and he obliged:

I hope he was saving his speed dash for the 10.
Now to the Hyundai dealer...the sales rep and sales manager, unlike last week, treated my roommate with respect and actually listened to what he had to say. So Hyundai’s Elantra is in the running for his final decision, as is Nissan’s Versa and Sentra, which he tested yesterday. Who knows what else may happen once he makes his purchase!

Foggy Bottom to Tourists: Expect Bugs

Filed under: DFCs | Sports |

Anyone who travels to the People’s Republic of China and gets into trouble there with the DFC’s during the Olympics can’t feign ignorance. The State Department (yes, where Condi Rice works) is warning travelers to expect their rooms to be monitored at their web site. If they’re lucky, the Chinese will simply invite the offending tourists to leave their country.
In case you’re curious, here’s the fact sheet.

Season 3 DVDs Here

Well I finally got my set today and the first thing I do is start ripping these down to the Official Backup and get rid of those bulls**t crippled versions I downloaded from iTunes last year! Yes, the Resistance webisodes are on here, either one at a time or all in one fell swoop...I ripped down the latter.
And looky here, what’s inside the cover of Disc One:

I’d say someone is a little hard up for selling a series which didn’t do so hot on TV. Me happy now.

Now This Will Turn Your Stomach

Apparently, it seems Shrillary was in the White House when Monica made her visits to Bill. Most of you would shrug your shoulders and say “OK, so what?”
Well, and I hate to bring this up at this hour, while you’re getting ready for your day, but....

...what if she watched?

Христианка Шкафа Приходит Вне

And it’s none other than Mikhail Sergeyevich, who visited the tomb of St. Francis of Assisi with his daughter Irina:

“St Francis is, for me, the alter Christus, the other Christ,” said Mr. Gorbachev. “His story fascinates me and has played a fundamental role in my life,” he added.
Mr. Gorbachev’s surprise visit confirmed decades of rumours that, although he was forced to publicly pronounce himself an atheist, he was in fact a Christian, and casts a meeting with Pope John Paul II in 1989 in a new light.
Mr. Gorbachev, 77, was baptised into the Russian Orthodox Church and his parents were Christians.
In addition, the parents of his wife Raisa were deeply religious and were killed during the Second World War for having religious icons in their home.

Perhaps Mr. Gorbachev finally felt comfortable in admitting his faith, this far out of the Soviet Union’s history. No wonder he blew his constituents away twenty-plus years ago. Perhaps Гла́сность and Перестройка really means something to him, both back then and now. Even though I disagree with some of the stuff he’s said, I can cut this guy some slack.

Caprica is Coming

So sayeth SciFi! It’s not often we get something like this, where we can take a look at how things got all messed up on the Colonies. I think the writers’ strike had something to do with it.
It’ll also be interesting to see who they will cast. Remember Battlestar Fans...there are NO battlestars in this one. May RDM and David Eick move forward quickly with this. So Say We All!

If there’s one place where very few people, if any (save the ACLU, Code Pink, and of course the owner...oh and I probably can’t leave NAMBLA off the list!), would object to the US Military’s use of this facility for urban warfare training, it’s this place. Click on the photo for more:

Yes, they could also use it as a JDAM bombing range. Truth is, you can only hit the same target so many times, and then it’ll be pounded into dust. A fitting end I say.

Dropping Some More Acid, Man

After getting the good news from Apple about Safari 3.1, I downloaded that...and also the latest nightly of WebKit, so I could run side-by-side Acid3 tests. The results:

Yes, Internet Exploder users, those are transparent images. Now we’ll see how long it’ll take the others to catch up.

Obama’s Race Speech

Filed under: Axis of Donks |

Well, I didn’t see Senator Obama’s speech but I read the text of it. Here are two things I noticed:
First, he tells lots of stories. He doesn’t say s**t about HOW he proposes to start to solve America’s race problems. Here’s what he puts on Whitey:

In the white community, the path to a more perfect union means acknowledging that what ails the African-American community does not just exist in the minds of black people; that the legacy of discrimination - and current incidents of discrimination, while less overt than in the past - are real and must be addressed. Not just with words, but with deeds – by investing in our schools and our communities; by enforcing our civil rights laws and ensuring fairness in our criminal justice system; by providing this generation with ladders of opportunity that were unavailable for previous generations. It requires all Americans to realize that your dreams do not have to come at the expense of my dreams; that investing in the health, welfare, and education of black and brown and white children will ultimately help all of America prosper.

In other words...he wants still more handouts, courtesy of The American Taxpayer, be they black, brown, or white.
Second, there is absolutely no mention at all of either “God Bless America” or “God Bless You” to end his speech. I guess that means Barack Hussein Obama also wants God to damn America. Yep, he’s still playing the Race Card.

A Bloodied Black Eye for Beijing

Filed under: DFCs | Sports |

Now I found this not-so-delightful parody of the Olympic Rings on the web site of Reporters sans frontieres, in conjunction with the recent riots in Lhasa, Tibet, and China’s bloody response to them. It’s six months until the Beijing (or should I say Peking just to piss the Chinese DFCs off?) Games, and I thought something like this would happen.
Good. I hope that other oppressed groups in that country will rear their heads to remind the world of what China’s doing to its population, all in the name of progress; of course, up until oh, 1976 or so that was Marxist-Leninist-Maoist progress. And when our Olympic team gets to Beijing, they kick China’s a** just to rub it in their faces!
