Star Wars in…1967?

Now here’s a wild Rat-Pack-lookin’ opening title for Star Wars, had it been filmed a decade earlier..

Photo Gallery Update

Filed under: Axis of Donks |

This controversy about Senator Obama and his so-called “pastor” has really got me pissed off. So much so that I made two major updates to the Gallery today: here and here. Go check ‘em out.

Note To Elvis

Please roll in your grave. This is because I absolutely loathe what Pfizer has done to your song Viva Las Vegas. Every time I see it on TV (doesn’t matter if it’s on the networks or cable), I harbor a tendency to shoot or throw a shoe at the TV.
What brought this diatribe on was some damn spam e-mail I received in my civilian e-mail box. Those damn unscrupulous bastards are finding more nefarious ways to get their message across to unsuspecting or, in most other cases, just plain ignorant Internet surfers (there’s always at least one in every family). Wait till you see how they structure their message to try and get past the spam blockers. Click on the graphic.
Bastards.

Fun Test Drive Day Turned Sour

Note to self: Do not piss off The Official Roommate when the auto dealer manager throws bulls**t financing figures which are closer to 12%, instead of 6% for new car financing. He tried out a Honda CR-V and Fit, then at the Toyota dealer, the test vehicles were a Yaris and Scion xD.
He really liked that last vehicle because it had some real git-er-up & go, but the experience got spoiled when the finance ossifer treated him like he was a n00b, and he simply isn’t. The guy actually started to argue with The Official Roommate, and that was when it was done and he walked out.
Good for him! He’ll eventually get the car he wants, and at the right deal too. If the Honda & Toyota dealers can’t realize that, frak ‘em.

Shrillary To Get Wish: Michigan Do-Over

Filed under: Axis of Donks | The Old Digs |

Senator Clinton sure wants those Michigan delegates and superdelegates (which include Governor Jennifer Granholm, Senator Carl Levin, and Representative Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, the mother of Detroit’s embattled mayor), doesn’t she! Tuesday, June 3, is the target date for the re-vote. There is, however, a small hurdle to cover.
While the funds are being raised by private donors (who can say George Soros first!), the plan still has to be signed off by the divided Michigan Legislature (The House is controlled by the Democrats, while the Senate is in the GOP’s hands). I’ll not question the decision of the lawmakers there...besides, watching Shrillary and Barack Hussein Obama slug it out is getting to be a real hoot to watch! Not only that, Florida is still trying to figure this out. What a bunch of idiots!
Hey, pass that popcorn over here willya!

I don’t care how wrong Pat Robertson and the late Rev. Jerry Falwell were for saying that the United States deserved 9/11...this man is even more wrong for calling out on God to damn this country. We nuked Hiroshima and Nagasaki to force the Japanese to stop the war; as far as us bombing the Paleostinians? He’s even more full of s**t for deliberately ignoring a problem for the world over the last, oh, 1427 years or so.
That’s why the “Rev.” Jeremiah Wright gets one.

I Smell A Lawsuit

Here’s the situation. A librarian finds that a man is viewing child pornography on a library computer. She calls the police, who arrest the guy.
And what does the librarian receive as a reward for protecting the community? Why, she gets fired of course.
Whiskey! Tango! Foxtrot!
I hope this brave woman sues the living s**t out of the library and the City of Lindsay, California!

Now here’s another classic toon I kept over the years, which I found yesterday afternoon while shredding other painful historical documents, from Bill Day of the Detroit Free Press. You should be able to read it at this size, but in case you aren’t able to, you can click for the full-size graphic:

I gotta find out how to say “snicker” на русском языке!

Browsers on Acid Test

Nothin’ like doing a little bit of late-night browser testing for the new Acid3 Web Standards Test. Go ahead, click on the 90/100 graphic to run the test on your browser.
Guess who’s ahead in the race for now...and it sure ain’t Internet Exploder. Of course, my preferred browser (Camino) didn’t do so hot either. No matter; go ahead, have some fun!
For the record: Camino 52, Safari 32, Opera 46. Firefox 52, I run nightlies on Camino and stable builds on everything else except WebKit, which is the one to beat!

Son of South Haven

Filed under: Entertainment | The Old Digs |

I was going through some old papers and lo and behold! I had a newspaper clipping from 1990, when I actually did some research for my old hometown paper on the late actor Mark Lenard, who played Sarek of Vulcan, the Romulan Commander, and the first ridged Klingon on Star Trek (spanning both TOS and TNG). Lenard was born in Chicago but grew up in South Haven, Michigan, my old hometown. Not a lot of people in that little burg knew what became of him after he left in 1942.
This article was released about five months after the TNG “Sarek” episode aired, which depicted the Vulcan ambassador as dying....it was a sad episode indeed; Lenard’s final appearance in “Unification” was even sadder. He passed away in 1996, and I wish I could have met the guy.

I Told You So

Filed under: War on Terror |

Here’s a very interesting article in which an Arab journalist, Mohamed Sifaoui, infiltrated an al-Qaeda cell in France and, due to his experiences, came to the following conclusion in an interview with Sophie Fernandez Debellemanière:

MEQ: Would you use the term Islamo-fascism to describe this threat?
Sifaoui: I certainly am one of the first Muslims to consider Islamism to be fascism. This is not a subjective decision but rather a serious, academic argument. Fascism and Islamism are comparable in many aspects: Fascism, without evoking all its particularities, bears similarities to trends also present in Islamism. I am, of course, making a reference to their will to exterminate the Jews. On this point, the Islamists may go even further in their doctrine than the Nazis did, considering that the end of the world could only occur when there are no Jews left on earth. In the three monotheist religions, apocalypse, end of the world, and doomsday exist and are liturgical events invested with a high degree of spirituality. Hence, the Islamists interpret the end of the world in a very special way. Whereas it is written nowhere in the Qur’an, exegetes describe the end of the world as the day when even the trees and rocks will be able to talk and tell the Muslims: “Come here, there is a Jew hiding behind me. Come and kill him.” And this would go on, until there would not be any Jew left on earth. This ideology is pure fascism.
MEQ: Are there other similarities?
Sifaoui: The will to exterminate or do harm to homosexuals is another similarity between Nazism and Islamism. The Islamists, also, say that they are the best community in the world, a superior race thanks to their beliefs. They use political means to arrive at this erroneous exegesis. I do not fear to call it fascism. And there are many more similarities between fascism and Islamism.

When the warning comes from a person such as this, perhaps more people may sit up and take notice, or continue to ignore this warning at their peril...and the world’s. The choice is theirs.
See, I can’t use the word Islamofascist on a liberal board where I mainly post for fun. Perhaps, just perhaps, this can be discussed in a rational manner and people there will wake the hell up.

What A Way To Take A Dump

Filed under: BS Patrol | Republicans |

I am shaking my head on this one. Why is this Florida Republican putting forth a bill to regulate restaurant toilet paper? WHY, dammit!
Are Florida businesses too lazy to conduct supply studies and keep track of how fast they expend TP supplies and order accordingly? Since this bill doesn’t exactly say how much constitutes “enough” of the stuff...I have a suggestion: encourage these dumb owners to install these instead:

Yeah, these’ll wipe your problem out in no time!
