I wanted to save this article for itself, and not throw it into the F.I.I.F. regular feed. Imagine my joy yesterday afternoon when I found out Governor Brewer finally sent the Dear John letter to the company which operates these devices:

I LOATHE these things. Every time I drive by one, whether it’s fixed or mobile, I have the tendency to give it the middle finger. That’s because we Arizonans know where they are located, and the mobile units have warnings posted at 1/2 mile and again at 300 feet. So we’d all slow down as we approached it, and then sped right back up again when we got past them.
This…was bulls**t.
Besides, the state used them for revenue generation and not for law enforcement. That is a big No-No in my book. So once these go away, we’ll be back to normal traffic flow patterns.
Don’t get me wrong…this development doesn’t affect the speed cameras in Scottsdale, Glendale, Mesa, and other municipalities. But I can see these things eventually going away too because of what they’re used for. Nevertheless, Arizona motorists can soon breathe a sigh of relief.

This is just one day I wouldn’t mind going back to bed:
