Axis of Evil
This is an UNCONFIRMED REPORT...there may be an outbreak of the plague affecting the Syrian military. The report comes from Syrian opponents in exile, so I think it’s a good idea to invoke the 72-Hour Rule.
If the early symptoms of plague have occurred in the military (the Syrian army has 215 000 men, plus 300 000 reservists), it is probable that the soldiers will spread the disease, especially with the approach of Ramadan [11 Aug-9 Sep 2010] when a great number of soldiers return to their villages.

Republicans
See this guy? This is Barry Wong and he’s running for the Arizona Corporation Commission. He has a novel proposal which is already getting him in hot water…cutting off power and gas to the Illegals who manage to live here:
“It is not a right. It is a service,” Barry Wong, candidate for the Arizona Corporation Commission, told The Arizona Republic.
The Republican candidate argues that the policy would be a cost-saving measure for consumers.
Though it would cost money for power companies to check immigration status, he said it would ultimately save money because power companies would not have to build new plants to serve the illegal immigrant community, presumably passing on that savings to consumers. His plan, if elected to the five-person commission, would be to require utilities to check immigration status.
“There is a cost ratepayers shouldn’t have to bear because of the illegal immigrant population,” he said, while acknowledging the idea would probably attract “criticism about human-rights violations.”
What Wong is doing is taking the effect of SB1070 to the next level. Look for said criticism from human rights groups in 5…4…3…2….

Personal
The Mrs. feels bad for an incident this morning where she rescued a little puddy tat from being run over. She put it into the back of her truck, but not without getting bitten for it.
She called me to help…and thank goodness I have today off, so I rushed to her side. We tried transferring the puddy tat, but she was hissing and showing her fangs and claws, and was in no mood whatsoever for humans picking her up. I don’t blame her, and I told my wife that it’s not the puddy tat’s fault either. The puddy tat ended up jumping out of the truck and hanging out with some of her kind.
I would pray that God will watch over this little creature for the rest of her days, however long they may be.
