Spare Friend?

Y’know, I don’t like doing this, but I have to. It’s been bugging me all week.
Girl I know in the East Valley (out of respect, her name will not be revealed) sent me a few e-mails before she left to go visit relatives in her home state (which is fortunately not mine). They were of the “let’s see what develops” variety.
When she got back, I was hoping she’d at least e-mail me just to let me know “Hey, I got back.” Never heard anything from her, so I decided to jump over to her place. She wasn’t there. I sent her an e-mail asking her if she got in OK, which she did, and decided not to answer me until I inquired.
Plus, she started talking down to me like she was the teacher and I was one of her pupils about a previous arrangement we had made. That part is irrelevant; the part which pissed me off was the fact that she talked down to me in her e-mail, and even worse...she attempted to apologize for leading me on.
Frak that.
I don’t need those kinds of friends. She’s not worth the effort.

A Late Christmas Present

Well, the truck is history. Four years and a few thousand dollars burned out of my wallet was enough. Today, I traded it in for a 2007 Ford Taurus SE sedan, with 29,700 miles on it. I also got full insurance, and an extended bumper-to-bumper warranty out to 100,000 miles to boot, so whatever maintenance is necessary is up front. I now have much-needed peace of mind…
...and so does Mom. You see, Mom helped out with the payments on the truck and it was time for me to free her from those. She didn’t have to do that, but she looks out for us kids. Any good parent does. And now I’ve given something back to her.

What I Missed Out On

Just got back from LA. Here’s a shot of what I didn’t imbibe at the USS Angeles Holiday Party:

Yes friends, that’s Romulan Ale. Illegal in the Federation! I’m told it tastes like Sam Adams, and I’ll take their word for it. Oh, and one more thing. I would have urinated blue. Even though I would have loved to have one, I chose not to. Perhaps it was because of the blue urine.
Heheheheheheheh....ANYHOO...The Official Roommate and I took the opportunity to visit Griffith Observatory and I will have more pix later in the week, I’ll need some time to process them. Me tired, me go to bed.

Off To LA

After an extremely busy week at work, I’ve decided to join The Official Roommate, as he invited me to a Christmas Party with his friends. I’ll be back tomorrow evening, hopefully with some pix. So stay tuned for the Saturday Night Video at 1800!

Pacemaker For Mom

Got a call from my brother about a half-hour ago. They took Mom into the OR for the pacemaker insertion. I should hear something some time around 1100 hours my time. Please keep her in your prayers.

UPDATE (1310 MST): Mom’s out of surgery; my brother said she was higher than a kite. When I spoke to her prior to my chiropractic appointment a couple of hours ago, she certainly was, and everything went fine.
Thank you, God.

Exciting 1st Commute

Not just down city streets and a connector which goes by Sky Harbor...I mean down the 51, over to the 202 East, then to the 143 South, which drops me off at work. All told, about 27 miles one-way. The night trips will be a breeze; it’s the mornings that I will have to watch.
Yesterday afternoon, the Official Roommate and I cleared the last of the small items (kitchen, bedroom, bathroom) we couldn’t fit into the truck and I turned in the keys. So I am done there. Not a moment too soon...gangs have started to mark up the place. And I leave behind the mistakes and regrets I made there.
Oh yes, I have to stop at a store tonight and grab a shower curtain. It’s quite tricky taking a shower in a stall without a curtain and not get the floor wet. Heheheheheheh!

The Place Is A Shambles…

...but we’ve got the Internet! Hence this post.
I ran around like a chicken with my head cut off yesterday from about 8:30 AM till after midnight. I, the Official Roommate, and three other guys managed to get the vast majority of my stuff packed up in the early hours, and loaded, transported and unloaded into the new apartment all in the space of just over three hours.
And though I feel achy all over, which will take some time to go away even with a dose of ibuprofen...I feel HAPPY. I am so glad to get out of that old place. I found last night that some frakkin’ gangstas marked the old apartment complex sign with their graffiti. Frak that.
I still have to go back and get some minor things, like kitchen stuff, food, and restroom stuff, and turn in the keys today. No big deal. And I got to get the place out of a shambles…
...but we’ve got the Internet!

Frak This

About 30 minutes ago a couple upstairs started fighting, yelling and screaming. Objects were thrown, and I could hear even that. So I said to myself “Frak this” and called it in to 911. I don’t care if it’s my last week in this complex. Other residents did the same thing.
The Cops showed up at the offending door within 10 minutes and knocked. The perps took off: first the guy, then the gal. And one other resident told the Cops where they went...due to a meth crash.
I’m glad I’m moving. I hope the Cops bust these a**holes.

Friends Come And Go

About 3 weeks ago I managed to contact an old friend in Illinois via email, and we started corresponding, kinda catching up on each other’s lives. Wednesday, this old friend wished me a Happy Birthday.
Then this morning this old friend managed to sever the tie by accusing me of hacking into her PC, and sent me an e-mail which was essentially a temper tantrum. This, from a 48 (or is it 49?)-year old lady with two grown kids in their 20s, and an ex who gives her problems:

i got the ip address and it is comin for a mac pc the same u said u had, please i beg u stop hackin into my pc or else u will get hell i mean it, i can pull bs too, be nice and leave me the f**k alone, and u were my friend what a load of bs, i got all your pc information, if u want to f**k lets f**k, tired of being nice to a**holes on here

Excuse me, madam...I refuse to stoop to your level of discourse. And I certainly don’t stoop to what you purported to have happened to your PC.
So I blocked her e-mails from reaching me, they are simply deleted and I never see them. How little she knows of me now. This is what time can do to people. And I will just walk away. I don’t need this kind of s**t from anyone.

Bubble Bubble Toil & Trouble

One of the terrible prices I pay for living in Arizona is the fact that, come fall through to the New Year, my eyes burn a lot whenever I put my contact lenses in. The heavier pollution in the Valley affects those with asthma and other breathing disorders; these go right to my eyes.
At times, this results in my having to remove one lens or the other while I’m at work. When this happens I’m at reduced efficiency and it sucks. However, on my day off today I went to my ophthalmologist’s office for advice as to what to do, and they gave me a free 120ml bottle of this stuff, complete with a special soaking container. Originally designed for soft lenses, it apparently also works for rigid gas permeable contacts.
If you click on the thumbnail, this stuff is in action. I just put them in here about 20 minutes ago, and as long as it goes for at least six hours, they should be good to go in the morning. I’ll find out then.

Redshirt for Halloween

Last year, I was an agent of the MiB. This year, our team is dressing up as crayons, and I’ll be red. Yes, I even have a red T-shirt ready to go, and when I get to work there will be a “crayon head” headgear waiting for me...more photographic evidence later!

Positive Feedback

Last night i had another very short anxiety attack. This one was brought on by an IM I had with an LGF Minion, and instead of it having to do with politics, it had to do with my son. Pretty much as soon as it was over, the positive feedback it generated fed right into the attack, and it lasted about five minutes.
At least I’m learning things; now I know what to look for. Now I have to learn to stop them cold in their tracks, because the situation with my son, like all the other things I stressed out on, is something I have no control over...in other words, I can’t make it turn out the way I’d like for it to turn out.

Post-Op

Well, I had my angiogram done just about 48 hours ago and it’s time for a report.
The cardiologist found no significant blockage in my arteries which warranted a further procedure, so that’s good. I’m going to take that as though there may be some blockage which I’m already on meds for. It could mean I may have to adjust those meds. I’ll find out more in the next two to three weeks when I follow up with him again.
And we’ll also likely talk about a diet I could go on to help lose weight which is what I need and want to do. He said I was a lucky man and I don’t want to let anything else go. A lot of the stuff which I totally stressed out on three weeks ago has been rectified.
As far as soreness goes, it wasn’t too bad at all It isn’t now, but today I’ll take off the bandage and clean it up a bit, then I’ll feel civilized again
So, that is where things stand.

Leopard Day

Filed under: Mac Stuff | Personal |

Come 1800 hours local time, I will NOT be among the throng of Mac faithful at the Apple Stores around the country when Leopard is officially released.
Will I get it? Oh, absolutely! But you see, I have to make a side trip to the hospital today for an angiogram, as a followup to what happened three weeks ago, just to make sure there’s nothing out of the ordinary. That starts at 0930 with check in; the procedure goes at 1130 and should last approximately one hour, and then for the rest of the time I’m there, I’ll be in the recovery room, for about four hours.
Therefore, when you add it all up...I’ll be at home recuperating when Leopard comes out. Leopard can wait.
