Gadsden Plates Gaining Ground

Filed under: | News | Open Threads

Now check these two license plate designs. One from the Commonwealth of Virginia, the other from the Lone Star State of Texas:

One other state has a proposal in the works: Nevada. This presents an excellent discussion topic, for I seen quite a few Gadsden Flag bumper stickers on their vehicles.
Should other states adopt this for a specialty plate? Yes or No? This discussion will remain open for 14 days, so y’all can get comments in.

Voting Early?

How many of you are going to exercise this option during this election cycle? I know I will be, because I may be otherwise occupied on Election Day. Yes, I already know the ballot will be bilingual and that pisses me off to no end.
Imagine that by the time November 4 rolls around, perhaps one-third of the electorate may already have voted! Take a moment to express how you feel about Early Voting. This will be an Open Thread which will remain so for seven (7) days.

Pixelmator, Anyone?

Filed under: | Mac Stuff | Open Threads

Tonight, I was told about a product which has been out there for a bit and looks to establish a niche between Photoshop and Photoshop Elements on the Mac side. It’s called Pixelmator, and I’ve started an evaluation of the product. Maybe I can get rid of the bloated Adobe apps I have on The Official System.
So this thread, which will remain open for 7 Days, seeks to gather input from you Mac users out there. If you use Pixelmator, leave a comment as to your reaction, its advantages and disadvantages from your perspective.

Opera, Anyone?

OK folks, this here’s an Open Thread. I’m looking at Opera once again, at the very least for evaluational purposes. It’s undergone some changes since the last time I tried it:

Does anyone else use this browser? If you do, leave comments about what works and what doesn’t. Comments will remain open for a full seven days.

I Overslept!

Oops...I forgot to turn on the cell phone’s alarm. I normally have just two alarms waking me up at this hour (actually, at 0300) to get ready for work. Some people need more alarms, such as the wife/girlfriend/significant other, to help in this respect.
So while I’m rushing around to get ready, I’ll leave an open thread (which I will leave open for 7 full days!...WOW what a bonus! You’re welcome) to discuss what your favorite CLEAN euphemism for sex is. Yes, you read right. Keep it clean. I’ll start with mine: “Takin’ care of business.”

Down Day

Filed under: | Open Threads | РУССКИЕ ДЕЛА

This is more or less filler…LGF has been down all day due to a hard drive failure.
Kind of a slow news day too. The only thing that’s stuck out for me is Pooty’s proposal for an alternative to the World Trade Organization. Well what’s he waiting for?

UPDATE (1940 MST): Word is that Tony Soprano and his family DID NOT GET WHACKED. What a way to end that series.

Your Opinion Welcome

Filed under: | Axis of Donks | Open Threads

I’d like to take a moment to ask you, the reader, for your opinion. Should this be made into a bumper sticker?

Thank you!

Opera, Anyone?

Here is something curious. Just for fun, I played around with version 7.54 of the Opera browser, a browser which is free, but if you pay US$29.00, the browser ads go away. However, I do not like it, because for some reason, they choose not to put it in the regular Applications folder. 7.54 is not the current version for the Mac (9.02 is), but I don’t think I’ll be using it again anytime soon.
I was just wondering if there are any Mac (or even PC) users out there who use Opera, and whether or not they like it, and why. Discussion here. This thread will remain open for seven (7) days.

Can’t Live With ‘Em, Can’t Kill ‘Em

Good Lord. I do not understand why things like this happen at what could be critical junctures in one’s life. If you received a letter which began like this:

Hi and hello, I am doing fine but not going out with anybody and I am still single.

...and concluded like this:

And let me know at my new address if you are still [single] or not okay.

...what would YOU do? Discuss.

I Am A Free Man!

Amritas discusses a book he received about Chairman Mao. In it, the book reveals that Mao thought about getting rid of everyone’s names and replace them with numbers. Mao, of course, would be Number One. Number Two would be replaced on a regular basis.
Which leaves Number Six. Who would be the mythical character to best fit into such a society…this person? Or perhaps this person? Or, how would the others fit in (Three, Five, and Eight)?
This is an Open Thread.

2 Things I Can’t Stand

Today calls for something silly to write about….
a) Ingrown nails. I hate ‘em when I get ‘em…of course, weaning myself from biting my fingernails when I’m nervous would go a great distance toward accomplishing that goal, and I have for the most part, but I still get these from time to time.
b) Zits. Here I am, 45 years old, and I still get these on the face (especially nose), earlobes (thanks Dad!), and along the collarline on the back of my neck! ARGH!
So, what things about yourself can’t you stand? Discuss.

Side-by-Side Comparison

Let’s open this one up for discussion. Which photo looks more natural?
BTW, the photo of Bill Clinton hugging the other child took place here.

And while we’re at it, we might as well compare Bush to Hitler and discuss!
