Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice is doing some more shuttle diplomacy, this time talking to the Israelis and the Palestinians about the current Israeli plan to withdraw from the Gaza Strip.
A lot of good that’s gonna do. This is what Madame Secretary (or any American diplomat for that matter) basically says every time she goes to the Middle East...and this is what the Israelis hear:

“Israel and the Palestinians must continue to work together to eradicate the violence which plagues the peace process. Israel has taken great strides in releasing Palestinian prisoners. Death and destruction is pointless to all. Jews and Christians and Muslims who long to live for two states, Israel and Palestine, will benefit from the peace process, as will the world.”

Now, compare this to what Mahmoud Abbas (or any Arab diplomat for that matter) hears:

Blah blah the Palestinians must continue to blah blah blah eradicate blah blah blah blah blah blah blah Israel blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah Death blah blah blah blah to all Jews and Christians blah blah blah long blah live blah blah blah blah blah Palestine blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.

For some stupid reason, the U.S. House of Representatives decided to amend the upcoming renewal leglslation for the USA PATRIOT Act by taking away the ability of the Feds to obtain library records without a court order. This is tantamount to placing Italian restaurants off limits from surveillance for Mafia activity!
I don’t understand these idiots on Capitol Hill...don’t they realize that since the Patriot Act was put into place, there have been NO terrorist attacks on American Soil? NONE! Zip! Zilch! Nada! What part of ZERO don’t they understand?
The best hope now is for the U.S. Senate to keep that provision in their version of the bill, get it to conference committee, and make the House put it back in!

Just like The Blues Brothers when they did the right thing while On A Mission From God...they ran the bastards off the bridge!
Now we have Senator Richard Durbin, who is technically a Democrat (D-IL), with his latest rant on the floor of the Senate, equating our treatment of the Terrorist Bastards we hold prisoner at Guantanamo Bay with the treatment of prisoners by the Nazis in World War II. And he refuses to apologize! Senator Durbin has therefore earned the designation (NAZI-IL).

Dear President Putin:
As a citizen of the United States of America, I must commend you for a response you made in the United Kingdom regarding your country’s past, and its comparison to Africa. The way I understand it, reporters were comparing Russia with Africa, and without going into sordid detail, you rightfully said that Russia’s past is quite different from Africa’s.
I put this in the same category as your comment last year to my country’s Democratic Party regarding the war in Iraq, again not going into details, that (in our vernacular) “...the shoe was on the other foot” and they didn’t like it!
In both cases, you told the truth!
It seems that the world has a problem with the press doing their best to rewrite history and not to offend every special interest group. Sometimes, the truth needs to be said, no matter how much it hurts.
And even though our respective governments do not occasionally agree on how to conduct international affairs, I would rather have my President work with you to fight the fight that needs to be fought!

These good men and women of the United States Military Academy throw their hats into the air as they graduate and take their places as officers in the United States Army.
An uncanny coincidence. The number of graduating cadets was: 911. They came to West Point in time of peace, and transitioned to war.
I salute them, and also the men and women of the Class of 2005 for the United States Naval Academy and the United States Air Force Academy, for in my heart, they will ALWAYS be remembered as the “Class of 9/11.” In addition, I salute the enlisted men and women who serve under these officers.
