The Next Time I Go To Canada, eh

Filed under: | Great White North | Yum

I think I’ll make it a point to go visit this place, eh:

I am sure that most of you might have heard about the accusations and controversy brought by Evelyn Myrie of Hamilton’s Centre For Civic Inclusion. If you are not aware, I have posted a copy of the Spectator article to our site.
Over the past two days, we have had camera crews from CHCH, Global TV and CITYTV in the store. In addition I have been on seven radio interviews answering for what Ms. Myrie has deemed offensive signage and menu.
While I respect Ms. Myrie’s position with her group, the mandate of her group is as follows:
* Community-based civic resource centre, committed to working as a catalyst for anti-racist change across Hamilton.
* HCCI initiates and supports transformative processes that promote equality and create racism-free and inclusive environments in all areas of civic life
* HCCI develops and shares training and education resources
* HCCI is a source of support and information to newcomer immigrant and refugee communities, diverse ethno-racial and ethno-cultural groups and First Nations communities
* HCCI helps build community leadership and enable productive dialogues and partnerships between marginalized and ‘centralized’ communities, organizations and institutions
* Hate Crimes Prevention Program aims to fill the deficit of support for victims of hate crimes in Hamilton who are vulnerable and unable to access counselling services

Read the rest. Then all you Canadian readers, go there and give them your business. I will the next time I’m in that area, eh!

Last Dictator Standing

Here is a most excellent, funny ad from a South African restaurant chain:

I can see why the DFCs in Rhodesia would be upset. If I were in South Africa right now, I’d go and eat at Nando’s!

Samosas Banned From Somalia

Filed under: | War on Terror | Yum

So, what, exactly, are these Samosas? From Wikipedia:

A samosa is a stuffed pastry and a popular snack in South Asia, Southeast Asia, Central Asia, the Arabian Peninsula, the Mediterranean, Southwest Asia, the Horn of Africa, North Africa and South Africa. It generally consists of a fried or baked triangular, semi-lunar or tetrahedral pastry shell with a savory filling, which may include spiced potatoes, onions, peas, coriander, and lentils, or ground beef or chicken. The size and shape of a samosa as well as the consistency of the pastry used can vary considerably, although it is mostly triangular. Samosas are often served with chutney.

Sounds pretty yummy if you ask me! Except, of course, to the Mohammedans living in Somalia…one group of which has found it fit to ban them, due to their shape invoking the Holy Trinity!
Remember, Mohammedans believe Christians are polytheists due to the Christian doctrine of “One God, Three Persons”: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They also deny the very Divinity that Jesus Christ brought with Him when he became a man. But of course, they rant about Isa and his mother Mary as pre-Islamic Prophets.
Have the Mohammedans also forgotten that there is one…little…thing…also named in relation to Trinity? If they’re going to be that anal-retentive about food which God allows humans to enjoy…then perhaps this might be in order for that Hellhole of a “country”:

I rest my case.

Friday Night Wodka

Filed under: | War on Terror | Yum

And what better way to celebrate than to breathe this particular stuff into a Mohammedan’s face. On a Friday no less:

I forget what I was doing when I stumbled on this. So if you want more information you know what to do!

Another One Bites The Dust?

Filed under: | Business | Yum

Anyone who’s ever watched M*A*S*H knows about Corporal Klinger’s love for Tony Packo’s, a Toledo institution since 1932, famous for its Hungarian cuisine…especially the hot dogs! And now, it’s under threat of closure due to a Family Feud over finances:

The first signs of rancor came back in 2002, when Nancy Packo Horvath, the daughter of the founder, accused her brother, Tony Packo Jr., of trying to force her out. In the end, the siblings came to an agreement to reorganize the company’s management structure.
But Packo Horvath died the following year, and her son Robin Horvath inherited her share of the business. Last year, he sued Tony Packo Jr. and his son, Tony Packo III, accusing them of preventing him from looking at the company’s financial records after he raised questions about spending. Horvath charges that Tony Packo III improperly used company money for personal expenses such as golf equipment, and construction at his mother’s home.
Tony Packo Jr. and his son have countered in legal filings that Horvath isn’t involved with running the business on a day-to-day basis and has little knowledge of its operations.

I’ve eaten there, with some Fraternity Brothers, including the National President! I can attest to the fact that their menu kicks a**! And it would be absolutely sad if this can’t be resolved in a more equitable manner.
My only hope is that this business doesn’t remain open due to the “genorosity” of the Taxpayers. As long as Президент Обама stays away….

Bangers & Mash Last Night

Mrs. Macker and I went to an English pub last night with Kirly, The Osprey, and Crusader Rabbit. Take THAT, selrahC! We’re Conspiring against you!
Seeing as I perceive this type of food to be, well, rather bland…I didn’t want to do Fish & Chips again, so I had Bangers & Mash, which is just as bland…while the rest had steak, steak, steak, and more steak. We also had a wonderful time lots of stories which, for the most part, did not involve what I alluded to earlier.
So what did I have for breakfast this morning? Well since I was in that “Lan Astaslem” mode, I went with…Johnsonville Stadium Brats. Go figure.

BK Receipt Profanity

It’s so easy to reconfigure the cash register receipt program to display such nastiness.

I’m surprised the TV station didn’t blank out the phone number. I’ll bet the person who reported this will get FREE Burger King FOR A YEAR! Minimum.

No Palin, eh

No, that isn’t my parody on the former Governor of Alaska. Rather, this belongs rightfully to The Osprey, eh.
My wife got this stuff for me to try out. Nopalina is actually a Mexican dietary supplement which utilizas (among its ingredients) Canadian flax seed. So I tried a little bit of this stuff mixed in with my All-Bran, and it wasn’t too bad…but it gave the milk an interesting taste, eh.
Naturally, The Mrs. warned me not to put too much in, so my body can get used to it. I took her advice, eh.

Cheeseburger Roller

As promised on last night’s Voice of The Resistance:

OK! For those of you who are familiar with QuikTrip service stations, they’ve got a new food product available…Cheeseburger Rollers! And it’s quite yummy. One Irritated Tulsan seems to agree.
So for those of you who have access to QT, Go Ye and try them out. The Macker Commands It!

I have a team cookout tomorrow afternoon at the Boss’ house, not too far from work. I volunteered to bring a side dish which The Mrs. introduced me to a few weeks ago. Since I wanted my teammates to taste it, I asked her to write down a recipe so I could cook it while she was at her work this evening.
The “Tacoroni” dish finished about an hour ago, so I waited for her to come home and see if it would pass her muster. Thus Sayeth Mrs. Macker: YEA!
