Unabashed Del Taco Ad

One of the very first things I discovered when I moved to AZ six years ago was Del Taco. LOVE ‘EM! And so does The Mrs.
Here’s their latest campaign ad, and you can vote for your favorite clip at facebook.com/deltaco:

Macker Wears…an Apron!

Spent some time over at The Mrs.’ friends in the other side of the Valley, after getting another passing bill on my cornea (I go back again in 4 weeks). Anyway, here’s what I was doing.

Yes, I actually made some orange juice! And it was FUN!

What’s Wrong With This Picture?

Filed under: | Axis of Donks | Yum

Actually, nothing with the Chefs or Alton Brown, and don’t look at Iron Chef Batali’s footgear (they look like Crocs to me). Look at Мишель Обама‘s costume. It looks like s**t! The pastel green sweater she wore with the orangeish dress was too damn short.
BTW, Iron Chef Bobby Flay and White House Executive Chef Cristeta Comerford won.

It’s Not Delivery, It’s Not DiGiorno Either

Yes, The Mrs. actually was inspired by a similar product sold at Speedway gas stations back East. From what I understand, it was apparently a very convenient grab-&-go meal. I can see why!
We’re talkin’ whole wheat flour crust (which she said she’ll have to tweak next time around, say Christmas Morning!), scrambled eggses, sausage, bacon, cheese, and alfredo sauce.
What a Godsend she is!

Sex Sells Even Raisins

Filed under: | Business | Yum

Y’know…I’m not quite sure what to make of this new makeover for the Sun Maid Raisin Girl, which has appeared on some TV ads. The closest analogy I can come up with was when the St. Pauli’s Girl got her makeover…and what a makeover that was!
Perhaps a CGI rendition of the traditional Sun Maid figure would have done quite nicely. At least, that’s my opinion; I don’t you about the rest of you, but I guess it just goes to show you that nothing is sacred on this Earth….

Secrets of The Ancients

The Mrs. got another Care Package™ from her dad today, via UPS. Lots of goodies in there which she wasn’t able to find when we packed her stuff up…and then she got this! An old Betty Crocker Cookbook from, I swear, back from the 50s or 60s!
I’ll bet there are tons of recipes which I’ll be more than happy to help her with. YES, I’m not as useless as others may think! Let’s just say that since we’ve been married, I’m still dropping weight, now down to a level I have not seen since 2002!

A Real Treat For Mafia Wars Fans…

Filed under: | Humor | Yum

Got this on my door the other night. Actually, I find this advertisement quite amusing, since I am a Mafia Wars regular.
So while I’m at it, here’s a Shout Out to Mafia Mike’s Pizza in Gilbert! Click the thumbnail to see the offers that you can’t refuse.

Iron Stomach

For many years I’ve been interested in finding out just how an MRE tastes, I know they have a whole bunch of calories, and yet, they have also earned the nickname of Meals Refused by Ethiopians.

Now, here’s a guy who’s got a lot of guts! On the day he retires from the Army, he breaks open a can of C-Rations he saved from way back in 1973!
And he pronounced it good. It takes a brave man to eat a meal which is 40 years old!

Gee, do you think the Lady E would kill me if I cooked one of these?

Wait till you see the “Porkgasm”...definitely haraam food there!

Secrets of The Ancients

Now that the Lady E is in my life, she and also some good folks at work are helping me adjust to a new diet where I don’t consume so much processed crap. Today, I rediscovered Quinoa, a gluten-free grain originating from South America with very high protein and amino acid content. And it tastes great too; reminds me of couscous which I consumed in my early post-divorce college years on an occasional basis.
The Lady E told me she cooked some of this with some stir-fry veggies while she was here. I don’t totally remember it, as I was in some significant pain at the time, so I’ll take her word for it.
I actually picked up some of this stuff at a specialty foods store this afternoon. It is prepared much the same as rice, so I mixed 1 cup Quinoa to 2 cups water (or in this case, chicken broth), nuked it for 8 minutes, let it set and soak up the liquid for about another 12 minutes, then another nuking for 2 more minutes and it was ready to go.
And it passed the taste test! I can definitely see myself getting more of this stuff.

This One’s For Basil

Courtesy of Fifth Third Park, where the West Michigan Whitecaps play Minor League Baseball:

Wait till you read the nutritional stats on this monstrosity. Even if you divvy it up between four people, it’ll even give the government a frakkin’ heart attack!
Now I dare Basil to bring this to his home town’s ballpark menu. That is, if his home town has a minor league team this year.
