Y’know, I feel bad for my friend Marian in California. She’s a freelance web consultant and is very good at what she does. Yes, she and her husband George are the Harley Riders!
Anyway, she’s had to deal with a client who refuses to recognize the fact that Microsoft no longer supports Internet Exploder for the Mac platform. From what I understand of the situation, the client is basing their critiques of her work based on their preference for this outdated browser. It’s a sad statement when people refuse to change. And apparently, that is what has happened here.
When I got my current system in September 2003, even back then I could tell that IE on the Mac was an absolute piece of s**t! I used Safari until Firefox 1.0 was unleashed upon the world, and I’ve never looked back.
So, to all those people out there who still use Internet Exploder on the Mac, I say to you GET OUT OF THE DARK AGES!

Man! Talk about being a Happy Camper!
You scored as Galactica (Battlestar Galactica).
You are leery of your surroundings, and with good reason. Anyone could be a Cylon. But you have close friends and you know they would never hurt you. Now if only the damn XO would stop drinking.

We’ve sent probes to every planet except Pluto. Well, today we finally took care of that last planet by launching the New Horizons probe, delayed by a couple of days by weather conditions at Cape Canaveral. And what good is a plutonium-powered spacecraft without protesters at the gates?
Just think...9 hours from Earth to the Moon, a year to Jupiter for a gravity assist, and then the probe will arrive at the Ninth Planet by sometime around July 2015. Definitely a fast ship, considering what we have today that is!
And I daresay one thing we’ll discover there will be utter beauty in spite of the coldness of deep space. For me, that’s one more reason why I believe that the Universe is no accident.

Many of the plot devices of Star Trek have been implemented in real life, such as hyposprays, the PDA, automatic doors, hand-held communicators, and commbadges. Next up: the turbolift!
After that, it’ll be a race between artificial gravity/inertial dampeners and replicators. Which will come next? Hard to say.

Believe it or not, 2005 will have one more second than normal. This doesn’t happen very often, due to the effect of tidal breaking.
So this time around, they’ll have to start the countdown at 23:59:00 with “00...60...59....” Cool, eh!

I’m sure most of you have heard about the strange synchronicity which exists between the 1973 Pink Floyd album ”The Dark Side of the Moon” and the 1939 classic motion picture, ”The Wizard of Oz.” This legend is known as either “The Dark Side of Oz” or “The Dark Side of the Rainbow.” It seems that a similar synchronicity exists between the 1976 Rush album ”2112” and the original version of ”Willie Wonka and The Chocolate Factory.”
How, you ask? See for yourself!

Well folks, I managed to restore to the previous version of Firefox on the Mac platform, 1.07, until such time as Mozilla can fix what’s wrong with 1.5. I essentially had to do a complete wipe of anything and everything Firefox from my system and do a clean re-install. It worked! Even though this means I have to re-establish most of my links, that’s nothing.
That’ll also teach me to be more careful next time. Quick! If the co-conspirator happens to be reading this, you can give me 10 lashes with a wet noodle.

HOWEVER...I’m finding out there are compatability issues with my Mac, so I’m gonna have to be careful...there’ll probably be a fix before the end of the week. Meanwhile I have to log in using Safari. Here’s the download link....just be careful!

I wonder if I should direct my Fraternity Brothers to watch this....
Ya think?
Ah, I see the market is in full operation on this new toy. I’ve yet to hear a question posed to me: “Are you going to buy one?” Allow me to put this issue to rest.
In a word, no. I see no need to sit on my a** playing games when I get home at night or on weekends. You see, I have this other hobby that I would rather sit on my a** for during nights and weekends!
Remember, the difference between men and boys is the price of their toys!

Sometime next year, Airbus will start flying that huge A380...but wait! Here comes Boeing with a high-tech update to the tried-and-true jumbo jet we all know and love...the 747-8!
At first glance, I would say the biggest improvement is in the wing design. As technology moves forward, they begin to resemble a bird’s flapping wings in shape. You’ll see it. With the 747-8, Boeing also has that built-in advantage that Airbus lacks for its superjumbo, in terms of access to more airports worldwide, without upgrading the infrastructure.
And the tune Boeing uses on this site is pretty cool too! This should definitely turn the heads of the traveling public...which I, thankfully, am a member of.

I’ve always believed that by 2010, there’d be real man-portable energy weapons entering our military hardware. Take a good look:
Capt. Drew F. Goettler, of the Air Force Research Laboratory’ Directed Energy Directorate, demonstrates the Personnel Halting and Stimulation Response, or PHaSR, a non-lethal illumination technology developed by the laboratory’s ScorpWorks team. The technology is the first man-portable, non-lethal deterrent weapon intended for protecting troops and controlling hostile crowds. The laser light used in the weapon temporarily impairs aggressors by illuminating or “dazzling” individuals, removing their ability to see the laser source. (AF photo)
Great news! Now I want to see this taken to the next level: energy weapons which BLOW STUFF UP! Oh, and give ‘em Stormtrooper Armor!
