Sometimes I find myself smacking my own forehead: why the heck did I toss...er, give to my cousin actually...my Hot Wheels collection when I was 14? Man, these were way cool back then and they’re still way cool today! Some of the models I had would be worth quite a bit of money these days.
Then again, I could start collecting them again. Who knows?

Check this out. I’ve recently found a new pen-pal in Russia, and it’s an international exchange. I’m teaching her English, she is teaching me Russian. I admit I have the tougher part of the bargain because it’s generally agreed that native English-speakers find learning Russian difficult, but not as hard as, say, Arabic.
So here is my name, as rendered in Russian:
Translated back into English, it means Dzosh Robertovich (Son of Robert) Spenser. Cool eh.

I somehow ended up as Joey Bishop. Interested? Go take the test.
Apple has set the launch date for the Windows version of iTunes for October 16th. So Windows users, come join us and tell the Beatles’ Lawyers what to go do with themselves! That’s US$0.99 per downloaded song, and albums go for $9.99!

I think the writer got the headline wrong on the article regarding Gen. Wesley Clark’s views on technology:
“I still believe in e=mc2, but I can’t believe that in all of human history, we’ll never ever be able to go beyond the speed of light to reach where we want to go. I happen to believe that mankind can do it.”
While time travel has been postulated as a possible result of achieving FTL travel, I don’t think the writer should have made that his headline. That puts Clark in left field in the eyes of the voters. He should be put there for other reasons, not for his views on technology.
Now, I agree that someday it’s quite possible we’ll figure out FTL, but we’ll need an awful good reason to do it, like a Hubble successor finding terrestrial-sized planets (not Jovians) circling a nearby star. Then everyone will be wondering what’s out there? and the imperative for going will exist.
Then again, God only knows....
