These are the words I will always remember Vice Admiral James Stockdale, USN (Ret.) by. He died today at the age of 81, from Alzheimer’s Disease.
Stockdale was the highest-ranking POW held by the North Vietnamese and was imprisoned for over seven years. He got the crap beaten out of him for most of that time, until one day, he cut his own wrists to show his captors that Americans wouldn’t buckle under the interrogation! He woke up in a pool of his own blood. Shortly afterward, the NVA stopped torturing the prisoners under his command.
And then in 1992, Ross Perot asked him to be his running mate. When it came time for the Vice-Presidential debate, Pee-rot told Stockdale that he had accepted the invitation for him, but forgot to tell the retired admiral about it until just two days were left to prepare! Hence, the saying. While most Americans slammed him for his lack of preparation, I didn’t because he came without the bulls**t baggage most politicians carry around with them. I admired him, and yet at the same time I felt sorry for him, for having to put up with Quayle and Gore hammering away at each other.
Still, you made your point. Thanks, Admiral Stockdale!

I just found out about this…and I am bummed. When I was a kid, I watched UFO, a British TV series from 1969 which was exported to the USA in the early 1970s. Ed Bishop played Commander Ed Straker and Michael Billington played Straker’s protége, Colonel Paul Foster, and they were the prime movers of the secret group SHADO (Supreme Headquarters Alien Defence Organisation), which fought the alien invaders.
Billington and Bishop died within five days of each other last month. Bishop was 72 and Billington was 63. Although they weren’t well known to American TV watchers, they remained involved with UFO Fandom around the world over the years, and they will be missed.

Yes, this is a long and tedious process, but at least I have the 2003 archival posts ported over to this blog (instead of on Earthlink). It’ll take awhile to port 2004 over, so hang in there!
Please Lance, do this for the US of A! Kick France’s Ass for us!
And while you’re at it, could you also straighten out your squeeze?

NO NO NO! Not that movie.
If you want to see a Fan-produced TV series set in the era of the Original Star Trek Series, go to Starship Exeter. The teaser for the second episode is now up, but the pilot episode, “The Savage Empire,” is truly a BLAST FROM THE PAST! Only that it’s done with 21st-Century technology!
You can even see how the Klingon nemesis Chang got his eyepatch!
And now comes word that Walter Koenig will reprise his role as Chekov in another Fan series, New Voyages. Good luck Walter…I sure hope they give you an excellent makeup artist!
I tell ya, I say Donald Rumsfeld should go into the Talk Show circuit once he gets done serving our country as Secretary of Defense…he’d make a KILLING! He showed up at the Daytona International Speedway last night and got a Standing O to give those magic words to the NASCAR drivers at the Pepsi 400. And NO, it was NOT Yeeeeee-HAWWWWWWWWWW!
By the way, Tony Stewart won the race.
Even a Hello Kitty Fan (which I’m NOT) can get SD cards with their favorite character on it! Where did I find this little tidbit? Well, go to Shiny Shiny but remember, it’s equal opportunity time.
OK folks…it’s a slight change I made in the site. It’s now up to YOU to find it!

NOTE TO PRIVATE DEVELOPERS AND MUNICIPALITIES:
So you want to grab someone else’s land to build that high-tax-base hotel or condo unit? Well, Congress has got news for you. You can’t use Federal Funds to do it! So there!
CONGRESS FINALLY DOES SOMETHING RIGHT and takes the wind out of the Kelo v. New London decision. Now if the states are smart too, every one of them should enact the same legislative limitation and force the bastards (the developers) to pay for it all themselves!

HOT DAMN!
Here we go ladies and gentlemen…Associate Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor hands in her resignation...and President Bush gets his first shot at changing the face of the Court.
This nation needs to change how the judiciary works, from legislation by fiat to strict constructionist interpretation of the U.S. Constitution. Our country has been fouled up quite badly over the last 30 years due to the rulings of the judicial system. And the only way to start the change is to fight it out in the Senate! Whoever the nominee is, male or female, had better have the cojones to fire back at the Democrats, who will filibuster and outright ABUSE the nominee.
I know I’ll be writing my Senators, both Senator Kyl (more faith) and Senator McCain (less so) about this.
So, the time has come to fasten our seat belts, because it’s going to be a BRUTAL fight to the finish!

Iran’s newly-“elected” President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, indeed has a sordid history with the United States. This son of a bitch was one of the Hostage Takers on November 4, 1979:

We need to “rectify” this little tidbit of history. Remember this well, President Ahmadinejad: PAYBACKS ARE HELL! And Jimmy Carter better keep his damn mouth shut!
One of you readers out there said this blog needs it. Well, this blog doesn’t necessary have it but my place sure does now!

This was waiting for me when I got home from work last night. She bought it for me!
