Leisure Suit Nightmare

I haven’t been feeling too good the last couple of days…hence not a lot of blogging. Been suckin’ down those “Re-call-A” cough drops, spraying my sore throat with Chloraseptic (at least the Wally World version of it)...also poppin’ the Coricidin HBP for my sinus headaches. So now you think you’re putting up with a walking apothecary ad? Deal with it.

ANYWAY...Hud blows me away (and gets a HAT TIP with this old nostalgic blast from the past when Disco was King…and the first photos on the page remind me of the suit I wore for my high school senior picture which, FYI, you will NOT find on this site!

I Resemble That Remark

Filed under: | Entertainment | РУССКИЕ ДЕЛА

Y’know, I haven’t heard much from Warner Bros. regarding the latest effort in the Harry Potter saga. While I admit watching all three movies produced so far has been entertaining in their own right, I don’t keep up on the progress of either the books or the next movie. But I am sure one prominent world leader has to defend himself against the hordes of Harry Potter Fans…

And while I’m on the subject…doesn’t this childhood literary character now look eerily like MARILYN MANSON!?!?!?

What Are They Smoking?

And why does the government of Prime Minister Paul Martin continue to smoke it?
Throughout most of the Cold War years, Canada was only too happy to participate in NORAD, which was mainly set up to defend North American airspace from Soviet bombers, and during Christmas season to allow youngsters to track Santa.

Now, the Liberal minority government in Ottawa has announced their desire NOT to participate in the ballistic missile defense system under development by the United States. Is PM Martin expecting Russian or North Korean missile technology to shine all the way across Canada and hit its intended target in the US? Worse, his government wants US to consult with THEM when we have to fire an intercepting missile!

Perhaps the best retort possible comes from a Canadian Member of Parliament, Stockwell Day (from the Conservative Party of Canada):

“These missiles are coming in at 4 kilometers a second, and if the president calls the 1-800 line and gets: ‘Press 1 if you want English, press 2 if you want French, press 0 if nobody’s there ...’ I mean, it’s crazy.”

Indeed. C’est la merde, Monsieur Prime Minister! So, Good Day eh.

RE: Présidence de la République

Filed under: | Axis of Weasels

Some time ago I had actually decided to sit down and write the President of France, Jacques Chirac, and ask him if he really did work in a soda shop in the 1950s in New York City. Well, someone in his office sent me some courrier électronique:

Cher Monsieur,
Bien cordialement.
Le Chef adjoint de Cabinet

The translation (via Systran):

Dear Sir, the President of the French Republic received your message and gave the responsibility to me to thank you for the interest that you carry to him.
To follow upon your request, I invite you to consult, if you wish it, the heading: “The President - His English portrait” (“The President - Biography”) of Internet site of the Elysium.

Well cordially.
The assistant Chief of Cabinet

Man, is The Girl I Am Interested In going to get another BIG SURPRISE when she wakes up this morning! Last Friday I sent her some flowers and she loved them! NOW, after I found out my vision insurer is picking up the cost of my next set of contact lenses (because they are medically necessary)...and after my BIG BONUS CHECK got deposited on Saturday…

...I went ahead and got her tickets to FLY TO PHOENIX for Memorial Day Weekend! She wants to go to the Grand Canyon, where she visited there as a small child. So we’ll go watch the sun set there…and with that, a new chapter in my life may very well be opening!

Stay tuned!

Please Pray For the Pope

I make no bones about this. I’m a Lutheran (the “original” Protestants)...and although I disagree with quite a few of the practices of the Roman Catholic Church, I still respect and admire Pope John Paul II. He’s been the Pontiff for twenty-six years now, and he is most definitely NOT a guy who gives up easily. He’s a fighter, that goes back to the days when he was an active Resistance partisan in Poland during World War II. Before that, he was a playwright. He’s done so much in his life.
So when I heard of his latest bout which resulted in a tracheotomy, I stopped what I was doing and said a silent prayer to God to give this man some more strength. He needs it.

Future Pennsylvania Governor?

Now this is an interesting development, indeed! Looks like Lynn Swann, former wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 1970s and current sports commentator, is planning on running for Governor of Pennsylvania…as a Republican!
While this is an excellent move to demonstrate to all Americans that anyone can aspire to higher office…I have to wonder what happened to Charles Barkley’s aspirations? Is he still on The Best Damn Sports Show Period?

Guess not.

I’ve been pretty wiped out today after I had my first eye exam in 2 years. Yeah, don’t kick my ass. But I got it done and everything’s OK.
Trouble is, the eye doctor dialates the pupils and that makes driving home FUN. And a nicely concentrated bright light is shone in your eyes and that certainly complicates things. All this was eight hours ago.

I wished the girl I’m interested in could have been here. She would have made it a lot more bearable. So I’ll post something else too to satisfy my readers. Until then, Owie.

Oscars are BORING

Filed under: | Bread and Circuses

I haven’t watched the Academy Awards in a long time, and I sure don’t plan on doing so even when Chris Rock hosts this year’s “spectacle.”
One of the blogs I read on a regular basis is authored by a writer who is a Democrat but who also knows the score when it comes to what is important for his family and his country! The Man With the Fedora, Roger L. Simon (dammit, I really should pick up some of his books and check them out), speaks on the subject of why fewer and fewer people tune in to the Oscars…and so do some of his readers!

Parodies Now Available

Well since I took a vacation day off in addition to the Washington’s Birthday holiday (THANK YOU VILMAR AND ALLAN for reminding me what that day is supposed to be!) yesterday, I decided to catch up on some additions to the blog.
As you can see, Parodies have been added. These are the photo, sound, and lyrical slams I’ve worked on since I started blogging, well before I went to Expression Engine. See the tab below the main header.
Also, I’ve also added an e-mail contact option on the About page if you wish to contact me.

So have at it!

U.S. Bases in Afghanistan?

Filed under: | War on Terror

Senator John McCain (R-AZ) has called for a permanent U.S. presence in the mountainous Central Asian country. Sen. McCain led a 5-member delegation to talk with Afghan President Hamid Karzai. Such a presence in the country could involve not only military operations but also regular cultural exchanges as well.

The liberals refuse to acknowledge the fact that we did not go to Afghanistan to subjugate its people…but to liberate them from the despotic Taliban and were thankful for it…unlike the British in the 19th Century and the Soviets in the 20th, both of whom attempted to conquer Afghanistan and got their asses kicked! They also refuse to recognize the status of three of Afghanistan’s neighbors:

China is a NUCLEAR POWER!
Pakistan is a NUCLEAR POWER!
Iran WANTS NUKES BAD!

That right there should tell any reasonable person that Afghanistan is between three rocks (China, Pakistan, Iran) and a hard place (the rest of the Central Asian ex-Soviet republics, not to mention al Qaeda and the deposed Taliban themselves) and has good reason to be concerned with its security for the foreseeable future. If Karzai and the Afghan people ask us to help them, by all means we should do so!

They Call Themselves Civilized

Filed under: | War on Terror

Damn it, this the 21st Century AD and Islamic councils on the other side of the planet perpetrate revenge against little kids for the sins of their relatives! In this case….

A tribal council in Pakistan has ordered the betrothal of a 2-year-old girl to a man 40 years older to punish her uncle for an alleged affair with the man’s wife, police said Monday.
The council decreed the girl must marry 42-year-old Mohammed Altaf, her uncle’s cousin, when she turns 18, police said.
Altaf, a farmer, divorced his 32-year-old wife over her alleged love affair with his 20-year-old cousin, Mohammed Akmal. Akmal, a bachelor and also a farmer, has no children.

People, there is NO SUCH THING AS FREE WILL in Islam. There is only SUBMISSION. This is what we are fighting. The Islamofascists call us barbarians? They better look at what’s in the mirror when they wake up in the morning.

That is, if they even HAVE mirrors!

In The Face of Evil

Well I went and did it. I ordered the documentary titled “In The Face of Evil: Reagan’s War in Word and Deed.” It should get here in about a week or so via the USPS. I wanted to see this movie at the theaters but it played in only a very few screens across the country, which meant it got a lot less airplay than that other “documentary” (and you all know which one).

That, of course, was because the Left will continue to vilify Reagan even though he is gone to Heaven. When I get this movie, I will write a review on it. Stay tuned.

Like Sheep To the Slaughter

Charles Moore at the Telegraph (in the UK) writes on the sheer size of the European Constitution, which, as he points out, is one big document which denotes which powers the Government has over the people! So big, in fact, it weighs in at 511 pages and 2 pounds, 8 ounces! Compare this to OUR Constitution, the text of which you could probably fit onto (at most) 4 double-sided pages and stick into an envelope to mail to someone you care about!

And the European Constitution is so good, even the Spanish justice minister extols its virtues to his constituents:

“You don’t have to read the treaty to know it’s a good thing.” In Spain, at least, it seems likely that the faithful will accept this secular bishop’s advice: they won’t read the constitution, and they will vote for it.

Sure enough, they did. Baaaaaaa Baaaaaaa!
