In the past, we’ve seen countries like Saddam’s Iraq, Iran, and Libya take seats on the UN’s Disarmament Conference and/or Human Rights Commission in acts of ultimate irony. Well, here’s another ultimate irony: get ready to laugh your a** off at the UN, because guess which country has been chosen to chair their Commission on Sustainable Development?
Why it’s none other than Zimbabwe:
“We’re very disappointed in the election of Zimbabwe as chair,” said the U.S. representative to the commission Dan Reifsnyder, deputy assistant secretary for environment and science at the State Department.
“We really think it calls into question the credibility of this organization to have a representative from a country that has decimated its agriculture, that used to be the breadbasket of Africa and can’t now feed itself,” said Reifsnyder.
Well, DUHHHHHH! Not to mention it’s 2,000% hyperinflation rate...which, BTW, doesn’t even hold a candle to Weimar Germany’s, or Hungary post-WWII for that matter.
