60 Years Ago: Tokyo Bay

At this exact moment, sixty years ago, at 0900 hours Japan Standard Time on 02 September 1945, a ceremony took place aboard the USS Missouri (BB-63), where the representatives of the Allied Powers formally accepted the surrender of the Japanese. The ceremony began at 0900 hours, with opening remarks from General of the Army Douglas Macarthur; the ceremony lasted approximately 25 minutes. After that, World War II was officially OVER.
