96 Days And Counting

Filed under: The 48th State |

And still no rain here in the Valley.
At least other parts of Arizona are getting the much-needed precipitation, such as college-town Flagstaff. At 96 days and counting, and no rain since the 0.17” (yes, you read right) recorded at Sky Harbor back on October 17, and no rain in the official forecast for this week, we’re on track to break the record dry spell, which is 101 days, by January 28, which is next Saturday.
Usually, the rains keep the pollution down, but since there hasn’t been any, it’s been a rough time for my eyes, since they do burn with all the pollution advisories Maricopa County has issued this winter, which sucks. But high winds last week blew that brown haze crap out of the Valley, and there were no advisories.
Another good thing: when it rains here in Arizona, I roll my truck window DOWN and just let the rain mist in when I’m driving on the freeways. It feels SO GOOD! That’s one difference between rain here and rain back east.

50 miles in one direction out of DENVER they are having a severe drought
and wild fires........50 mile in another direct and they have more snow on the slopes than they have had in 20 plus years--they expect new records for snow
fall to be set this winter.

Me thinks, Mother Nature maybe on drugs this weather year (world wide!).

Wait a sec, Cat...I forgot to blame it all on George W. Bush!

Yes!

And his infernal weather machine!

Perhaps we need to invade GREENLAND for all of its water.

During my visit to Camelback Mountain AZ (expense account- paid) there were no culverts under the road to fill with sand and rocks during the infrequent gully-washers/turd-floaters.  The highway dipped to allow the water to flow over the road. I was impressed.

Your ARE aware you’re living in a desert, right?

Damn!  The warthog is here!

Warthogs are not so annoying as stoned cats.

Mack,

Yur blog may never be the same!
