All Along The Watchtower

Wow man…COSMIC!
I’m not even going to go into the fact that Baltar was acquitted of treason charges. Besides, he’s now a Man Without A Country.
What I’ll discuss here is my reaction to the song which is picked up by four characters (Saul Tigh, Galen Tyrol, Samuel Anders, and Tory Foster) as some sort of talk wireless signal…which they expressed as something they heard when they were young (as a children’s song). The episode ends with a tripped-out cover version of the Bob Dylan classic, later covered by Jimi Hendrix, which is the title of this post…as well as a view of Earth, perhaps as seen by Starbuck. This only contributes to my belief all along that this series takes place in the far future.
We now have ten months to ponder exactly where the signal emanates from…and to figure out whether these characters who received the signal are indeed Cylons of a different sort…or as I suspect, descended from the gods themselves.
Note to Bear McCreary: Please include this on the Season 3 Soundtrack!
The comparison between this cliffhanger and the ending from the Original Series episode “The Hand of God,” where Boomer discovered the gamma-frequency signal which ultimately turned out to be from the Apollo 11 moon landing, is obvious. It’s like being sober (Original Series) and stoned on chamalla!
Imagine that.
