When i was in high school, I wrote for the school newspaper. What I volunteered for, other than writing news articles, was the TV review column. I really had a lot of fun with that...and I actually managed to utter the N word in the proper context of writing about Richard Pryor’s TV comedy way back when.
But even back then, I quickly realized that I didn’t want to do that for a living. Deadlines, pressure from editors, reporting the news and not pontificating about it. Is it any wonder then why obviously don’t teach that distinction and how to look out for it?
Now there’s a web site where angry journalists can go to and vent their spleen anonymously. Turns out that regular citizens are going there too to lambaste the journalists, and I don’t blame them. It’s a fun read.
