Now check these out. Here’s a series which aired almost forty years ago...yeah, it’s been that long:

Not only was UFO a forerunner to the X-Files (in a roundabout way), you’ll see things on this series which simply cannot be shown on the air anymore. Nehru jackets and purple hair wigs! Characters smoking profusely, even on Moonbase! And if you know what camel toe is, hell, nearly all the women wearing SHADO uniforms displayed these prominently!
UFO was a series which was extremely dark for its day. When CBS ran it in 1972, they couldn’t figure out whether it was adult-oriented programming or a kids’ show, given Gerry & Sylvia Anderson’s previous productions, which were geared toward kids. One episode from the Megaset (which I received Friday at work, thanks to a rewards program they have there), “A Question of Priorities,” reflects upon Straker’s failed marriage and the ultimate price he had to pay for protecting the Earth.
In any case, it’s fun watching these episodes once again.
