Yesterday, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert made the following statement in an interview with German satellite network SAT1, regarding Iran’s threats to annihilate the State of Israel once they obtain nukes:

“Israel is a democracy, Israel doesn’t threaten any country with anything, never did. The most that we tried to get for ourselves is to try to live without terror, but we never threaten another nation with annihilation. Iran openly, explicitly and publicly threatens to wipe Israel off the map. Can you say that this is the same level, when they [Iran] are aspiring to have nuclear weapons, as America, France, Israel, Russia?”

He’s got a point. Even the Soviets did not want to wipe out the world during the Cold War. Even the Russians are a rational people. ANY Islamic country which possesses nuclear weapons will not act in the same manner. And before you bring up Pakistan, I will remind you that only Pervez Musharraf is the only individual which stands between that same rational behavior and the sheer insanity which will ensue once he’s gone and I believe that’ll be sooner rather than later.
