...and I wish I did. I managed to get home just in time to watch President Bush deliver his State of the Union message, via streaming video of course! I didn’t care about how the cameras, from time to time, roamed around the gallery to see who was awake, who was playing sudoku(!), and who was drunk (namely, the senior Senator from Massachusetts?).
No, what got me were two things, and the first item deals directly with the Morse Code issue. I could not believe Speaker Pelosi’s eyes were blinking so fast. I had to wonder if she was transmitting the following message:
-… ..- .-.. .-.. ... .... .. -
I’ll let you resourceful readers figure that one out.
The other item which got me was the scowling look on Vice President Cheney’s face, as in ”I wish I didn’t have to be here tonight,” or ”I pray Madame Speaker doesn’t say anything condescending to me, or else I might tell her what to go do with herself like I did with Senator Leahy a couple of years ago.”
One theme which the President spoke about was the need to work together. He’s been saying that for six years, and do you really think the Donks listened to that message in the past, much less intend to listen to it now that they are in control of the Congress? Not just no, but HELL NO! And there wasn’t a lot of applause or hoopla this time around either; this sounds like more of preaching to the choir, which is probably better since it kept the speech down to about an hour.
So there you have it.
