Knock Me Over With A Feather

Filed under: Entertainment | War on Terror |

Quick! Someone at the Film Actors’ Guild needs to review the membership roster for Nicole Kidman and 84 other individuals and possibly REVOKE their membership if they were signed up in the first place. Why, you ask? They’ve taken a public stand against terrorism with a full-page ad in the Saddam LA Times:

“We the undersigned are pained and devastated by the civilian casualties in Israel and Lebanon caused by terrorist actions initiated by terrorist organisations such as Hezbollah and Hamas,” the ad reads.
“If we do not succeed in stopping terrorism around the world, chaos will rule and innocent people will continue to die.
“We need to support democratic societies and stop terrorism at all costs.”

Is Hollywood finally waking up to what’s happening? Are they finally realizing that if the Islamofascists ever got their way, their a**es would be among the first groups to go after Jews and Christians? Here’s to hoping that they are!

COMMENTS

In World War II, celebrities joined the war effort.  Jimmy Stewart, Tyrone Power, Van Johnson, even Ronald Reagan put on the uniform and did their part.  Although most were kept off the front lines, Jimmy Stewart flew combat missions in B17s and retired a General in the Air Force.  In 2001, Arizona Cardinal football player Pat Tillman turned down a multi million dollar contract to join the Army and eventually lost his life in combat.

These guys are writing a strongly worded letter of protest.  And 5 years after the fact, as well.  Forgive me if I roll my eyes on this one.

So, would it be a good analogy to say this has the same effectiveness as a Chapter 6 UN Security Council Resolution? cool smile
