There were some good comments on SDA’s website about this. According to at least one person Mary Jo Kopechne did at least prevent the swimmer from becoming US President.

On a site I frequent called Biased BBC they were also commenting about another Kennedy. Though this one is not related to the Boston mafia! Sarah Kennedy is a BBC radio presenter. She made an off the cuff remark to the effect that Enoch Powell was the best Prime Minister that Britain never had. It got twenty five complaints so the BBC reprimanded her.

Funny you should mention that, Lyndon. Consider this: I’ve always had this snide belief that Ted’s Dad made a pact with the Devil that one of his sons become President of the United States. The Devil agreed, but stated that his sons would die young.
JFK, of course, became President, and was assassinated in 1963. After RFK was shot on his way to the Democratic Party’s nomination in 1968, it was then that GOD stepped in and altered the bargain:
