Par For The Course

Well I tried to call my son Jonathan last night and his mother answered. When I asked her if he was there she said “no” and hung up.
So I tried again just a few minutes ago. He answered the phone and I said to him “Merry Christmas!”. He asked who I was, and I replied “This is your dad.” His response was “That’s nice, goodbye” and hung up. His hatred for me is still present in his voice. And yet I still pray for him, that one day he’ll move past it.
Well…[sigh]...at least I tried.

Sorry to hear about this man…..keep trying and be there as much as possible….call him randomly, not just on occasions and always tell him that you love him before he hangs up. With persistence, you will beat that wall down

Macker,
I too, am sorry to hear of the difficulties with your son.  He’s young yet, still knows everything (remember those days?).  I kow it’s gotta hurt, but with some time, he’ll learn that Dad isn’t dumber than a box of rocks, and you were right about all that stuff you tried to teach him growing up.  Please don’t stop trying

Hang in there Macker.  You have a good heart, one day your son will see that.  In time…in time…

Macker,
I am sorry.
It took me 20 years to be reunited with my oldest son.
It continues to be a tenuous relationship, but the desire is there on both sides.
He is still young. There will come a time when he will want to see you.
It almost always comes full circle.
Do not despair, hope abounds.
God knows the desire of your heart.

Thanks everyone for all your kind words and thoughts!
