The Samoan Exception

Filed under: Axis of Donks |

OK, the Donks got their minimum wage hike through the House by a 315-116 vote (yes, that means 82 Republicans voted for the measure)...but there’s one…little…catch: the bill extends the Federal minimum wage to the US territory of the Northern Mariana Islands, but exempts American Samoa. Now, why is this? Hold on to your hats…

One of the biggest opponents of the U.S. minimum wage there is StarKist Tuna, which owns one of the two packing plants that together employ more than 5,000 Samoans, or nearly 75 percent of the island’s work force. The other plant belongs to California-based Chicken of the Sea.
StarKist’s parent company, Del Monte Corp., is headquartered in San Francisco, which is represented by Mrs. Pelosi.

Go figure!

COMMENTS

Why is it when a Libral Donk is caught dead solid the Libral activist vanish? We know damn well that if this was a Republican the activists and media would be going bonkers.

But no its the old Libral Donk tactic, ignore it let the main stream media bury it and it will go away…nice
