OK, since the conventions start next Monday with the Demo☭rats, followed by the GOP on September 1 (which just happens to be Labor Day), the anticipation is really starting to build as to who the candidates will pick. So, the time has come to begin debates and discussion for these contingencies.
This thread will remain open until August 30. Have at it!
UPDATE (0633 MST): We got mail from an adoring fan!
Why am I going to bother with a thread like this when you continue to infer that I (and the people I support in this campaign) are Communists? I am nothing of the sort. You know better.
That’s right, with all due respect, you should also know better. Until people like you get up off their a**es and take back the Democratic Party from George Soros and the San Francisco contingent who Blame America First, your party will continue to be seen as left-wing Marxists, that’s why.
Whatever happened to Democrats such as JFK, Harry S. Truman, and Scoop Jackson, who all agreed that politics stop at the water’s edge? Those who did believe the same as these guys, such as Senator Joe Lieberman and former Senator Zell Miller, either don’t exist anymore, or have simply left that party (and in Lieberman’s case, his party left him). So there.
Now that this e-mail is out of the way…have at it!

I’m betting on the safe choices of Bayh and Pawlenty. Since Obama and McCain are neck and neck in the polls, in their minds, neither requires a “game changer” type pick. If, say McCain was down by 15, he might choose Lieberman to mix it up a bit.
However, I have never—ever—correctly guessed a Veep pick, and often the pick is someone utterly out-of-the-blue.
I guess we’ll find out soon enough. To compete for the middle, I’ve always thought Obama (or Hillary if she had won) should choose a middle-aged white general that isn’t named “Clark”. However, I don’t see any signs of that happening.

McCain is picking up steam. He’s ahead by 5 according to Zogby, Obama has to come out strong in this convention no matter who he picks. I don’t think he can.
I doubt Hillary will be the choice. But he may be forced to pick her. If that happens, it may placate the Clinton groupies, but it won;t help him win.
Gore won’t do it. So I think it will be Biden or Bayh. Both are not going to help him either.

I like Mike Steele as JMac’s pick. He helps McCain with the conservatives and also denies Obama being able to say he is the only brother in the race. He is well-spoken , has leadership experience at the state level, plus he has a sense of humor. In his last race , he had his “I love puppies” commercial which was pretty funny.

I agree on Steele. I like Bobby Jindal but he needs to stay in LA for a while longer to build up more experience.

Here’s Steele’s “I Love Puppies” ad. He be hip!
You know what the Donks will say. I don’t care! If Steele is qualified for the job, and if McCain likes what he sees in him, then I have no problem with this guy on the ticket.
Now, as far as the other side, I can see Obama going for Biden. He won’t be lacking for plagiarized material, that’s for sure!

BTW - It is long past time for Throw The Bums Out (TTBO) national campaign. That is real, legal regime change that is sorely needed.
