I enjoy listening to Internet Radio because its sheer diversity of material beats the daylights out of the corporate top 40 stuff they foist upon the airwaves. One station in particular, Radio Paradise, plays stuff I remember hearing in college, and as a result I’ve downloaded those songs and enjoy them once more! There are other stations listed in the left column which I frequent. Click on ‘em and check ‘em out.
But, there’s movement afoot in Congress to regulate Internet radio out of existence by charging these stations royalty rates so high it will drive them off the air. The RIAA is behind this since they’re pissed that digital downloads are taking an ever-increasing bite out of regular CD sales, not to mention the fact that they don’t exert total control what is broadcast. I loathe having to pay 20 frakkin’ bucks fpr 20-year-old technology. It’s two words: total bulls**t, and this has got to stop.

With 70% of listeners still getting their music the old fashioned way, perhaps the RIAA needs to look at music quality and the rising cost of CDs, rather than demonizing and suing 10 year olds and cripples.
