Internet Control Issue

Some countries are just plain envious of the Internet, to the point of working to wrest control away from ICANN and turn it over to the UN (but of course). Besides the United States, it looks like Europe is against this proposal by China, Russia, South Africa, et. al.
“I know the U.S. government has said it would do everything it could to prevent this,” said Peter Linton of the European Internet Foundation. “I cannot speak for the European Commission, but I would suspect it would look at it with a jaundiced eye as well.” They’d better.
