My blog friend Basil, whom I believe I will have an opportunity to meet someday, went to his 30-year high school class reunion over the weekend. The way I read it, said reunion kinda went as expected. No big surprises, right Basil?
Anyway it got me to thinking. My 30-year reunion is in two years (for the record, I graduated from high school in 1978); when I moved to AZ I thought I would not return for the 30-year event. Now I’m thinking of going anyways…here’s why.
My 10-year reunion was a disaster, because it was the beginning of the death throes of my marriage. I thoroughly enjoyed the 20-year reunion in 1998. The 25-year reunion went pretty well too, but I yearned to get away from Michigan due to another disaster in the making: the choice my son made to stop talking to me (at the time he was 15), and his mother’s sanction of that decision. However, the two and one-half years I’ve spent in Arizona has, in many ways, purged my heart and my soul, and I can once again look forward to things such as this.
