The US Naval Academy has no plans to stop it’s midday prayer at mandatory lunch after the Air Force Academy issued new guidelines calling for a 20-second silence before lunch. West Point doesn’t pray at all.
And the ACLU is involved (as is the Anti-Defamation League) because the prayer is non-denominational and is led alternately by a Protestant, Roman Catholic, or Jewish chaplain. I’ll bet they’re going after the Navy because the lunch prayer excludes a Muslim chaplain. That, and no Naval Officer would be stupid enough to begin his career by suing the Navy.
And it’s not as if the Naval Academy is excluding Muslim prayers at all, they too have an on-campus service. So what are they griping about now?
