One Day, I Will Go

At 05:29:45 hours Mountain War Time on July 16, 1945...60 years ago...the world’s first nuclear test was conducted at the Trinity Site, in the Jornada del Muerto region of central New Mexico, near the town of Alamagordo. The site is located on the Army’s White Sands Missile Range, and is normally open to the public twice a year, on the first Saturday in April and also on the first Saturday in October. It will also be open TODAY on this special anniversary date, just like it was 10 years ago.
Since I’ve been in Arizona, I’ve resolved to go, but certain other factors have precluded me from completing this trip. But one day, I will go and walk these grounds for myself, and then write about the experience. I plan to do the same one day, at the Nevada Test Site. “There but for the Grace of God go I.”
