Very soon, President Bush will receive a very special Afghani rug, a gift given to US Army Lt. Col. Grayson Gile, charged by the maker of the rug to deliver it personally to the President. The rug has many Christian and Catholic symbols woven into it, as well as Afghan representations, with a likeness of President Bush in the center, and the following caption:

PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH - NUMBER ONE CHAMPION

This rug was made four years ago, under pain of death, as a gift for freeing Afghanistan from the Taliban and setting it on the path to democracy. I wish there was a high-res photo, but even so, it certainly looks impressive. I hope the President appreciates the gesture and takes it with him back to Crawford.
